Last week, I was feeling especially run down and nauseous. Monday, I went to the ER and learned my hemoglobin level was at 3.6. I was admitted and learned my insides were bleeding.

Grateful that a colonoscopy found and fixed the problem, but I'm super not excited about the financial impact...

That might be the lowest hemoglobin level I have seen. Glad they found it and you are OK.

Holy cow MissT! Did they say what might have caused it?? Hope you're feeling better soon.
Colitis. They also removed a pre-cancerous polyp.

I have think my demons and whatever has tried to kill me are in a room screaming "HOLY SHIT, SHE'S STILL ALIVE! FUCK!" while throwing chairs and putting each other through tables.

Sorry about the Colitis but glad they found it. Don't ignore it. I also suffer from UC. It used to come and go until 2010 when my hemoglobin got down to 6 something. Not sure how you even functioned at 3. It was awful and I was white as a ghost. I was on a biologic for a period and then went on a diet that Gastros will tell you doesn't help. I suggest getting a copy of a book called Breaking the Vicious cycle. It has to be followed with fanatical adherence. No cheating, the idea is to change the make up of bacteria in your gut. Their a facebook group that can be helpful. https://breakingtheviciouscycle.info/

It wasn't functioning, Wally.

My heart sounded like a shoe in the dryer. I could barely stand up, I was sleeping often, and my food consisted of saltines and Sprite.
