Norwich Hockey - Time to Regroup

Flint, aside from the win, your impressions from the Babson game? Is NU’s play sustainable against the better teams? How far will their “hard work” take them?
I mean, they just beat a two loss team who was top 10 in the polls. What else do they have to prove?

I think they’re CAPABLE of beating just about anyone on any given night.

Bog - I know he’s no Flint, but my wife’s boyfriend said the cadets were lights out last night. Reminded him of the McShane years. I might even tune in next weekend if he lets me.
They worked very hard, and kept going. But lights out? No .
With McShane style work ethic? Yes, no surprise there.

I saw it, but wanted to make sure it wasclarified. It was a very good weekend, but with enough for coach Dawes to talk about, ala Nick Saban style.....

Looking for fast starts (and good finishes) both games this weekend. I’m sure the coaching staff has emphasized that.
A 4 pm Friday game is unusual, but maybe it’s more me than them. Looking forward to watching it, hopefully the video is good.
Foot on the pedal, don’t let up!

Kind of a fast start, but no reward for it. An excellent finish to the game, 4 in the third.
Now to be a Beacon backer for the night.

Grinding out a win, great second and most of the third. Had the game in hand and committed some ill advised penalties. Nice to see checking a part of the game.
One more to go then playoffs.

Agreed. Gotta be smarter and stay outta the box. Can’t give teams any life when you’ve got em down.

All in all a very successful weekend. No let up against Sparty.

Last regular season game, and can lock up first place. Hopeful the Cadets continue coming out fast, and with a strong third period. In-state rivalry game, so staying out of the box is a key.

I was wrong about where I thought NU would finish this year. I knew the coach is more than capable, but turning a teams strategy around completely in one year was a tall ask. The freshmen and transfer fit in and produced better than I thought, and the upper class found more offense in the system change. Plymouth having more trouble than I thought helped also. So no more cautious optimism, just optimism. Looking forward to the remainder of the season, it’s a treat seeing a team with so much effort on the ice.

So much for staying out of the box. Three penalties already.

Not a great job staying out of box. Not great going to shootout, but winning that is enough for the regular season title.
Now get ready for Saturday!

(And now I see Babson lost, so although a moot point, it was still on the Cadets hand no matter what)

Shooting at the chest and pads? Goalie stood on his head as some like to say?
Little bit of both, in my opinion. He never really “stood on his head” but he was very solid all game long

I have great news! According to a bunch of dorks on the internet, Canada is better even though they lost because they outshot the U.S. I'm going to pour through the Norwich stats and update their record to reflect any games where they outshot the opponent in regulation and change those to regulation wins. We're going to skyrocket up the NPI now!

hang the banner!

Excitement is back! Good crowd considering students on break, lots of noise.
Hitting picked up noticeably in the second, and so did the play. Could (should) have avoided a couple penalties, but great effort shown, and rewarded.
Great job this year by coach Dawes!
Also, trying to remember when I’ve seen a goalie challenge a player like that after the whistle?
