UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

$600.00 is the threshold. Any deal over that needs to be reported to the school. Ace currently has deals with U.S Cellular, Harvest Moon Deli and Golden Bean Bakery in Orono.
The student athlete makes the deal? Thinking back Cindy Boldgett could have gotten over 600 easily.

Not at all, but $600 is a joke. I mean when you couple it with a full scholarship, it's not "bad", but as has been discussed here previously, it's certainly not sustainable for continued success of Maine Hockey IMO. This $600 seems like the Orono Brewing type deals. I guess this also jives with the position Barr has taken that hockey gets little to no NIL.
Yup, it certainly will be tough for Maine(unh, Vermont etc) to compete with big ten schools thats for sure

On a podcast over the summer Barr said that it's coming, but it requires additional staff in the athletic department. Orono isn't the easiest place to attract qualified candidates so it's a slow process, but it's coming.
Most Universities dealing in big NIL have General Counsel on the payroll so yes it takes a department to run it or partner with a firm
