Dump Term 2 Part 3: "But I Say Unto You, Hate Thy Enemies." -- Revulsions 5:44

I'm annoyed neither of us have any Canadian heritage in our backgrounds, cause with their recent change in law in December, anyone who can find a single Canadian citizen in their direct lineage may be able to become a citizen upon verification.
Ohhh, good to know. I have done work on our family tree and I have lineage on my dad's side that goes through Canada!

Plus, our son is in talks with some CSSHL teams for prep hockey next year.

My wife and I are probably 60% committed at this point to start the golden visa route with Portugal for our escape plan. Minimal residency requirements (only have to be there at least one week per year once the visa is approved), and after 5 years you can qualify for permanent residency or citizenship, gaining free access to the rest of Europe. Downsides are the upfront investment costs and the length of time to actually get the initial visa, which can take a minimum of a year and sometimes much longer. Though my understanding is the delays have lessened since they stopped letting property purchases count as the investment.

on your edit: the new law shocked me. Luckily, we have a long line back to Quebec that we should be able to prove

I'm still SOL with the rule change. My nearest Canadian relatives were great-great grandparents.
third generation people are reporting success with this now

Doesn't matter. My understanding is that the new law says any child born to a Canadian parent is Canadian, and they made it retroactive. So if your great-great grandparents were Canadian at the time your great grandparent was born, then your great grandparent was automatically canadian, making your grandparent canadian, and also your parent, and also you.

It's estimated up to 5% of Americans may be able to establish Canadian citizenship based on this.

I need to dig out the genealogy books my grandmother made and see. We have some Canadian in the family, but the documentation is sketchy.

I just saw the exchange between Pam Bondi and Ted Lieu where he called her out when she said there was no evidence of Dumpy committing any crimes...

Bondi looked significantly rattled during the exchange. Like she's seeing the walls close in...

It's time to buy the Costco sized box of popcorn folks... This is gonna continue to rolling downhill for some time.

Every time I watch a law enforcement officer testify on Capitol Hill I am reminded again that the United States no longer has a rule of law. It's over and has been over for a while now.

This is the striking thing for me, too. It's like watching the Soviets flat out lie in the 70s. That's our government, now. It is heartbreaking half the country wants that. Americans are so fragile. The very first time we had any problems, after 2 centuries of layups, the squealing infants in our midst caved to a "strong man" (in reality the most pathetic weakling who ever sat on a gold shitter).

American conservatives are sociopaths and ignoramuses. Of course. We always knew that. They even know it they just try to lie to themselves.

But they are also sniveling cowards, and they don't know that. They are like keyboard warriors: so brave when it's not their ass.

They have no character.
