SUNYAC 25-26 The start of a new era

And it seems that he didn’t make the right decision. Massive downgrade from Salve to Plattsburgh.
Far from it. I’ve read all the Salve material on what happened and only half the story has been detailed in the press. It’s in the past and there it will stay. Not sure what you mean by downgrade. Plattsburgh has a great facility Salve plays in a high school rink, Platts gets 1800 fans per game Salve a couple of 200 mainly family members. Platts is a top program in D3 Salve is not even close. Beautiful school but the experience from a hockey perspective way better at Plattsburgh.

Downgrade as in Salve sitting at 8/91 in the NPI and Plattsburgh is 54/91. Hobart gets 294 fans a game.

Lets see, Salve no auto bid and the NPI rank will drop out of sight once playoffs start since they have no way to gain any further points since their only remaining game is agaist D2 Franklin Pierce. That is no upgrade.

I hate to break it to you, Plattsburgh isn't winning the SUNYAC. We have no idea how the NPI will react to wins/losses in the playoffs. Salve has played one game since January 27 against Keene St, and has jumped from 10 to 8 since then.

I'd really like 2 SUNYAC teams in the NCAA tournament, but at this point it looks like if there are 2, someone needs to beat Hobart to get the auto bid. I thought Oswego had a chance as a runner up in the SUNYAC , but after the last five games I think that ship has sailed. So, Hobart should be expecting some highly motivated teams coming into the Cooler which should be very good preparation for the NCAA tournament.

I NEVER said Plattsburgh would. But I still believe Salve will drop below NPI 10. Most other teams have anywhere from 1 to 5 regular season games left plus many will have 1-4 playoff games left. Salve only has 1 game against a D2 team with nothing to gain. There are 3 or 4 teams, with much higher SOS and with a few more wins have a great chance of moving ahead. Then again, Salve may have found a loophole to get an at large.

SUNY Plattsburgh: Congrats to Nick Jensen ’14 on making Denmark’s 2026 Olympic roster!
Denmark will compete in Group C alongside the United States, Latvia, and Germany, opening its Olympic campaign on Feb. 12.

There just isn't a lot of ground that can be made up in Win % at this point in the season. Salve is locked into a Win % of 85%. Taking my team SNC as an example, the best they can do in terms of an at large is win their next five games in regulation and lose in the NCHA finals. That moves their Win % from 69.5% to about 72% (without factoring in home vs road). They would also pick up some QWB along the way, but there just isn't a lot of room for improvement.
