2028 Elections

Someone who spends all day reading about politics doesn’t know about horseshoe theory?

I know the (naive, obsolete) theory that when you go far enough right you come around again from the left and vice versa, but I do not understand how that applies here.

I thought this might like the Golden Horseshoe in Ontario or something. You Mainers are weird.

I've seen Platner speak, live and in person. His first real campaign talk in Ellsworth Maine at a local brew pub. I had to park a long way from the location, place was mobbed. The speech was terrific, he already had a ground swell of people and they are very enthusiastic. The tattoo stuff is concerning but I did lots of stupid shit when I was younger also. I'm not a give my money away to any politician type, very rare for me to do that but I'm all in with Graham. He probably won't win the primary but I'm throwing some cash his way anyway.

Those are the type of folks he is attracting. Along with the people who are fed up with everything and want someone new. He’s Fetterman part two.

Lol at people from away thinking they know what wins in Maine. He definitely appeals to the horseshoe crowd, and we have our share of those in Maine, but the longer he is out there the harder it is going to be for him. There is more damaging oppo research that hasn’t dropped as well. He’s very intelligent and a decent guy, but trying to pretend to be some sort of blue collar/working class stiff isn’t the way to go.
Says the Masshole.

Fetterman was great until he fall down break brain.

And I hardly see Platner as a pinwheel-eyed Leftist. I mean he's never at our meetings. He seems like a Kitzhauber type: me have biceps and working class outerwear. Is he faking? I don't give a fuck, just get the seat. If he turns into Sinema we'll take him for a ride in the County.

What is the timeline?
According to him, he got it in 2007. So he had it for 18 years before covering it up.

He intrigues me as a candidate in many ways. First of all, he's a brash, unapologetic lefty who isn't 200 years old. Beating the Senate's Concerned Citizen is no small feat and I absolutely don't feel that octogenarian Janet Mills is up to the task. I'm no fan of litmus tests but I don't really feel like "don't have nazi tattoos" is a litmus test.

I'm not a Mainer, so whatever, my opinion means little. But if I were? I'd probably sit out the primary and them tepidly support whichever candidate goes against Collins. Same as if Newsome is the POTUS candidate.

Priority 1: defeat the fascists
Priority 2: figure anything else out

It's funny I take the opposite out of this. If somebody so obviously with us on the issues can say despite the clear danger of being mocked that he just didn't know then it's time for us, who didn't live his life or go through those trenches with his buddies, to get over ourselves.

But. That's. Just. Me. (last note held on a high C sharp for dramatic tension and irony).

I think we do the fasc work for them half the time. We can either have a decent world or think the worms in our heads matter. Gotta choose.
