Wisconsin Hockey 25-26 Hastings Year 3 - Turning the Corner?

Sales are brisk for this series. The 3rd tier is open and many seats sold up there. I'm bummed there's people around us tonight in the back of 210, but that's ok. When we went to the UAA game, there wasn't anyone near us in the same seats.

LET'S GO RED!

Finley wins it in OT, but that game did not give me a warm feeling. They play that poorly defensively they will get throttled by 70% of the teams in D1 hockey.

I'm glad we got the win, it's been a brutal stretch. In their losses, Bucky is outscored 5-2. That tells me, it's not bad in one phase, it's bad in ALL phases. That can't happen if you want to make the tourney.

Have to win tomorow, and convincingly. I'm taking one game at a time approach the rest of the way. Having Zelenov and Mors back is huge. I like Tulk and Osburn...I feel like they, with Mors will take this team as far as they can.

More of a recruiting point, but my take here on out is...if you want to compete with MSU, Michigan, who are in the back yard of the USNDTP program, you better open the checkbook for high end CHL guys that fit and the best high end scorers in the US. If anything, Big 10 play over the last 12 years has told me that you better have guys that can, in the immortal words of Christopher Cross, Ride Like the Wind. Otherwise, you lose and don't make the tourney.

How did the goalie look? I did5 get to watch. Saw the score was 4-2 at one point and thought it was in the bag then saw ND scored a bunch on the 3rd to tie it.

I mean…are the goalies atrocious? Is it the defense or is it the goalie coach? I noticed several very soft goals earlier this season and even when they were winning…but I’m not sure the cause of the problems really

In my opinion it's 70% defense, 30% goalie. Hauser gets left out in the wind a lot. The pk can't cover the backside forward. A quick pass goes through the box for a one timer and it's in. He probably saved a few more of those earlier in the season as has been mentioned he doesn't seem to be getting over to cover the one timer as quickly right now. I think Minnesota got several that way, and so did Notre Dame.

The number of goals being scored against us with shots off the pass the last 2 games is completely mind-blowing. On 2 of them, Hauser is flinging across, the puck did not hit him. The shooter was completely unmolested in both those. 2 of them the pass was shorter and he looks to be in the right spot, don't know if he was screened or what.

Izdan not playing is interesting. He is noticable when he suits up. Injured or scratched?

In person, Morrissey and Tulk stood out.

The student turnout was great for the game, tons in the 2nd tier. I really really hate the Fu in the sieve chant. Completely unnecessary.

It’s ruined the power behind the “SIEVE!!!” portion too, as the old people don’t know when to say it. That used to be a hammer on the opposing goalie.
