St. Lawrence U.

Looking at the schedule for the rest of the season I see maybe 2-3 more wins at best. Looking at 4-5 win season if they’re lucky. I could be wrong but that would go down as the worst record in the modern era for SLU.
completely unacceptable
Correction the 19/20 season brekke had a 4-27 record so maybe he will tie it for the worst season ever.

Rumor has it that it's a contract year for Brekke. If so, we will see if the University is going to step up to play D-I hockey at the end of the year (no way SLU fires him in-season and has to pay two head coaches). Sadly, all signs are currently pointing to a slide into D-III irrelevance.

On track for the worst season in the 100-year history, and crickets from the Administration.

This will be his last year. That would mean the women’s team has to go Dlll. No way that happens. Franco bari has his work cut out for him. So far the silence from him is not very encouraging. Now is the time to start using that #1 alumni network they always talk about lol

I think we could actually "beat" the Mark Morris 2019-20 total of 4 wins. See that SLU Hockey tuque above my handle? I'm too embarrassed to wear that at Wegmans.

To be fair to Brekke, that was his first season, which never goes well in a rebuild. The current state of SLU hockey is all on him though.

Amen, bro. But I'm sure Coach Brekke is a nice guy, and I wish him all the luck in his next endeavor.

I’m sure he’s a very nice guy. Unfortunately he’s not a good head coach. Wish him luck but it’s time to move forward with a new coaching staff.

my hope is SLU wastes no time and gets the ball rolling once the season ends. Clean house and get the coaching candidates on campus quickly. In no particular order I would be on the lookout for names like
Bill Riga, Jason tapp, cam Ellsworth, Joel Beal. My wildcard is Rick Bennett and greg Moore.

GoldenBear was correct in that this is a contract year for Brekke. I heard from a reliable source that the administration made it clear this past offseason that he turns this around this season or he's done. If that's true, then it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what's going to happen.

I think we need to focus on alumni for our next approach. St. Lawrence University, and Canton as a whole, are unique in many ways. Recruiting here takes someone who understands the area, understands the university and what it takes to recruit the top talent to Canton. We have alumni who fit this mold, some with a significant amount of experience at other D1 hockey programs, and we should be focusing on that first, whatever it takes.

I have a feeling there is already a plan in place, or at least some preliminary goals. In fact, I've been hearing as much.

Music to my ears!
And thanks to all who have shared their thoughts. Much appreciated!
PS Bring back the Larries. I know, fat chance--but I remember Appleton rocking to "Let's Go, Larries!" According to Bob Graham's book, "Go Saints," the new nickname took hold by the '66 season, but I don't think so--Heck, in my fraternity, everybody called SLU 'Camp Larry!'

Yes of course alumni should be considered for the position however the university should not limit themselves to just that. It’s a unique place for sure. I don’t think recruiting at SLU is necessary harder than other programs in ecac.

What sort of rivalry is SLU-Clarkson? The kind that means our season just got great, no matter what our ranking.
And I was wrong in #36 above--it's not the hockey gods granting Coach Brekke a reprieve, it's Cameron Smith and Rasmus Svartstrom, and a bunch of other guys.
