Pennyante State has had a bit of a rough stretch now that their schedule got more difficult. It will be to their benefit to have played some difficult competition come playoff time, however.

I know that I've never seen a play like Murphy's assist on the 2-0 goal before in women's or girl's hockey. It had the creativity that you typically only see players attempt in shootouts. E.g., Kessel had a shootout move where she would draw a circle around the sliding puck with her stick blade, trying to distract/confuse the goalie. In Murphy's case, to flip it in the air and then knock it down to create a bounce pass to herself through the wickets, it wasn't obvious how that degree of difficulty was going to pay off. In the postgame interview, she said something to the effect that she tries not to think out there. I guess that explains a lot. Love her or hate her, her hand/eye coordination and hockey instincts (note, I didn't say hockey IQ) are entertaining.

Got a laugh out of this. Murphy is very entertaining and will be very marketable in the PW. Same for Eden.

Craaaazy assist by Murphy and way to go Fanale on finishing the job so the magic wasn’t wasted.

BU beats NE in the Beanpot semi's with an OT ppg. The penalty was for slashing. Ouch. That must have been some kind of axe job. Hawvawd beats BC in the other game. I'd like to see BU win it.

I'm trying to decide if that was just showing off or was it a necessary move to get the puck around the defending player. She had a a lot of speed as she approached the defender, if she just stakes around the outside could she have got the puck to the backdoor? At any rate, aside from a lacrosse style goal, that's as impressive as it gets.

Apparently USA U18s out shot Finland 71-7.

USA won 14-0.

Go ahead and say it Timothy
Your paying attention to my posts! At least someone is. 🤣

71 is 😵‍💫. It's sad that Finland has fallen off the face of the Earth in women's hockey. They were the third best national team, the collapse is massive. Their future is dim.

Canada defeated Finland 12-0 yesterday. USA 9-0 over Hungary.

Not that these are serious solutions but thinking outside the box for senior and U18 tourneys:

Rivalry series should be between Canada and USA u18s.

No PW players in the Olympics.

you’d still get a decent tournament to watch, I think, perhaps a better tournament than this.

I’m sure there’s some more takeaways like to be honest I don’t see why some of these women’s teams are so weak relative to the North Americans. They are very progressive countries with decent men’s programs.
