Maine Recruits: When Ashes Fall, Legends Rise

Poul Anderson traded to Red Deer, scored on the power play his first game with the Rebels.

He's higher in their depth chart than the Oil Kings, who are contending. 3rd line vs 1st line spot basically. Should get more opportunity on a younger and lower in the standings teams
He will have a fellow future Blackbear, Nate Yellowaga, there in Red Deer to bond with.

On one hand, I love that Maine can snag ppg 18 year olds from the USHL. The recruiting has come a long in way in 5 years under Barr.

But Maine HAS to start prioritizing recruiting centers and size. Preferably both simultaneously would be great. They also need a high end dman or two for this fall.

I ~think~ that Wasmer isn’t coming anymore.

Lipinski has speed, size, and plays center.
Scott has speed, size, and plays center.
Komarov has speed, size, and plays center.

Scholle only has size and plays center, not speed.

Wasmer is likely not cracking Maine’s line up anyways. I had him in the cut category that I posted on the Maine recruits thread. Not a bad defenseman, just not good enough to make Maine’s line up.

Lipinski has size but doesn’t seem like a fit. I think his effort and skating is meh.

Scott is pushing 6’0. Good player.

Komarov is a 4th liner and is also 6’0.

Scholle is not a center. Force fed into the position. Is not big either. 5’10.

Need better center talent. And size on the roster.

I think the wings are where they are smaller is my point.

But like that last goal, Djuresevic mishandles the puck and leaves it right in front of our goalie for a shot, puck stays in the zone and winds up in a goal eventually.

I think the real weakness on the team is soft goaltending by Boija, defensive lapses by Djuresevic, and freshmen defensemen regulars(Langlois, Peterson, Usereau) would rather play the puck than the body. Nobes, Motew, and Coughlin all play body and better defense. They aren’t regularly in the line up because Barr favors offensive defensemen. The combination of suspect goaltending and suspect defense is what makes Maine a Jekyll and Hyde team.

We have no idea how many goals Maine will give up each game. The goals against per game are very inconsistent.

Maine needs better high end centers. And they need size. And better nastier dmen. If they can get centers with size, great.

I have been disappointed with the d core and the goaltending. I thought they would be strengths and they have not been. I think the specials teams have been poor too.

So replace the whole team then 🤨
