UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Finally got a chance to watch Saturday game, Maine played well, Rosseau was excellent , Langlois play was depressing , hopefully he will be ok but that could be a long term type of injury. The only way we will know much is if he gives permission to release that info. Concussion seems to be a sure thing, after that???

Didn't see Friday game was on Vacation where it was warm. Didn't read many complaints about how Maine played other than maybe Boija?

A week off may help the team?

On Facebook someone posted he has concussion and had dislocated finger but no other broken bones and was released from the hospital in Boston. Which is good news given how hard he hit the bottom of the boards.

I think a week of helps them recover from bumps, bruises, etc… and gives Langlois time to get over concussion.

The effort was there Friday, but some not so great turnovers on aggressive pinches while all forwards were in deep so no back checking could disrupt the odd man rushes. Djuresevic played a bit soft but played much better Saturday. Boija struggled and looked to have limited reaction time and limited lateral mobility and recovery. He’s not where he left off last season. I think time off will be good for him too. He needs to stop wasting energy being mad and hollering every time he gives up a goal… and focus that energy on his skating fundamentals, and positioning, and cat like recovery we saw last season. Otherwise history could repeat itself. Boija outplayed Ostman during Boija’s freshman year and finall took over the top spot. If Boija doesn’t focus on the things he can control(lateral agility skating, reaction, positioning, recovery) then he will see what happened to Ostman happen to him. Rousseau would likely love to have the type of minutes Boija gets and he isn’t carrying on after every time there is a defensive breakdown. Boija is acting like he expects a perfect defense in front of him and scolds his teammates after those breakdowns. Well, breakdowns happen but how you handle things matters and I don’t see Rousseau carrying on with tantrums. Boija won’t have a pro career for long if he doesn’t cut that crap out and just focus on fundamentals and improving. You want to sit there and sulk and throw tantrums and there is no shortage of goalie wanting that job. He will learn or he won’t. But to me it has been disappointing to see our darling that always smiled and put in such great effort and amazing saves turn into a player that is mad at his own team after breakdowns and is mentally not focused.

Update on Jérémy Langlois
from Maines Hockey FB page.

“After a collision in Saturday's game, he was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital for evaluation where CT scans and X-rays were normal. He was released and has since traveled back to Orono where he is under the care of our sports medicine staff.”
great news. From my lazyboy it looked way worse. two weeks off will do him good

I’m so happy to hear this turned to not be a serious injury. I wish him a complete recovery. Paul Culina will help him to get back on the ice when he is ready.

Looks like only 1 HE team in the tourney this season.
It is too early to use the NPI. Once teams get to 12 wins the formula changes to eliminate the negative effect of wins over low rated teams that lower your NPI. There will be a much better barometer in January. However, don't expect Hockey East to get more than 3 this year.

The conference as a whole needs to step up in the midseason nonconference window. As of now, Hockey East has a losing record against the Big10, NCHC, and the ECAC.
