HOBART HOCKEY 2025-2026 REIGNING THREE -PEAT D3 HOCKEY CHAMPIONS

The last time another team was ranked #1 , other than Hobart , was Utica on March 6, 2023. Thank you Mark Taylor., although the only poll that counts is the one after the last game of the season. Two kinda heavy penalty games against Utica, but we'll take them both. Skidmore and Plattsburgh at the Cooler this weekend. Not exactly "take a breath" games , as the new SUNYAC season begins.
yes they have dominated for sure,....that said you may??? want to thank the administration as well????:unsure::unsure::unsure:💸💸💸💸

Hobart 6-1 over Skidmore with Goyer in goal. Fontana with a four goal "haul". Platty in tomorrow. GOBART1

It's a little easier for us in the East to keep tabs on Skidmore Hockey. The Saratoga paper is sold at convenience stores walkable from my house and that paper regularly has articles covering the team. Thus, anyone interested knows they graduated a herd of guys who accounted for most of their offence and scoring last year and replaced them with 13 freshman. Bottom line is to take tonight with a grain of salt as Skidmore may plain and simple just not be that good this year.

By contrast, the Geneva area paper is not on the stands here and what happened to the guy who scored the OT winner for Hobart's first title is still a complete unknown other than he simply vanished just like Chuck Cunningham.

So, possibly not that good Skidmore this year beating now 1-4 Utica at their place, albeit in an exhibition game, may possibly mean that somebody else is not that good either.

Good points Tony/ytoy. It is still early in the season. I did notice that Skifmore started a Freshman goalie , so not sure we saw their best.. Also , Skidmore had 30 minutes of penalties and had a nasty high hit at the end of the game on Hobart's Bauer Swift.. I wasn't at the game , so I can't explain why Skidmore was so aggressive...... Hobart seemed to stay in control as Taylor has been vocal about keeping the penalties in check and last night Hobart seemed to be pretty disciplined.

Interesting, I just looked at the stats from the Utica-Skidmore game. Skidmore is a strong program and the SUNYAC should be aware they will be a factor. As far as exhibitions, as you said, you can't really read that much into them. I do think , the Utica transfer goalie from Elmira(Curtin) has some big skates to fill after Piros left AS far as exhibition games,Hobart just beat Wilkes and Kings this weekend , but it was mostly about fine tuning the line play and integrating everyone . Hobart has 2 with Elmira and 2 with Utica to start the season. Looking forward to it. Hope you catch the Skatesmen when they travel to Skidmore, it should be a good game. I still think RPI, Union ,Clarkson, SLU and RIT should drop down to D3 with us for one helluva Liberty League Conference.....We'd love to play on your ice and you'll love the Cooler :).
Just went to check out Oswego after hearing about last night. Skidmore kept them at bay as Oswego normally bangs out almost 20 SOG every period 1. Second night in a row Oswego gets the winning goal off of the bounce in by a Goalie. They had a great show retiring their first number,

I just have to say though the last seasons Hobart is built for speed, they are literally faster than their opponents 99 percent of the time.Going to drive down to Oswego again to see Hobart, and I'd say the Deb is amazing every time I go there, #1 arena in NCAA Div III (I exclude Utica because lets be real, that arena wouldn't be there if it wasn't for the Comets.

Hobart beats Plattsburgh 3-0, but it wasn't easy to keep The Cooler streak alive. Watched the Chris Duclair opening goal about 30 feet from my seat as he quickly banged a short breakaway ....don't blink when Chris has the puck.. While I love the Cooler because of its intimacy, and because it is home, I must say I understand the criticisms from fans that are fortunate to have great arenas like Oswego and Utica.I enjoy watching the flow of the game at those venues., especially with a fast team like Hobart. My hope is that the development priorities of HWS can focus on improving the venue .......I know the current projects of improving the business and science buildings and resources is important, but Coach Taylor is succeeding based on his reputation and knowing how to attract great players because they love to play for HIM and each other,. Building the Taylor rink in the not too distant future seems an important addition to the offering..
