Nah she is running for President and will likely be the nominee because she controls the crazies. Vance will have the money and MTG the nutjobs.

All of this is so in 2+ years she can get people like Maher or CNN will pretend she is a "bipartisan" choice.

I think it is fair to say they are even more open about it, now. They used to hide behind stuff like "insuring voter identification." Now it's just flat out "our folks will vote, your folks will not."

The revelation to some (not to me particularly) is it used to be the thought that only the top of the party and the insiders were running this as a secret plot, and their voters would be appalled if they found out. What we know now is their voters are perfectly happy with it. Democracy for them means voting for me and not for thee.

The Right is genetically anti-democratic. You can have a country with popular sovereignty and checks and balances and vibrant democracy but you cannot have any of that and right wingers at the control panel. They will always cheat because they spit on the very concept.
 
While I would normally celebrate the electoral demise of Nancy Mace, I can't help but wonder if Republican's sudden outrage at her behavior has more to do with her support for the release of the Epstein files than any of her usual wackiness. She's not doing anything she hasn't done before, but if they can force her to resign before the House goes back into session there will be a 217-217 tie on the discharge petition and the files will remain sealed.
 
Wait, hold up. I misread the reporting. It SEEMS like there were 8-10 democrats in favor of breaking the filibuster and caving.

Schumer apparently clawed them back? Am I misreading this?

No he was going to cave but when they told the non "Gang of Eight" and they threw a fit a couple of the "Gang of Eight" revolted and said they would not vote that way and screwed Schumer.

The GOP is literally handing us the future...and Schumer wants to sell us out for the Bill Ackmans of the world.

I am hoping the systemic forces here are so large not even Schumer can screw it up. The GOP is the Titanic. Dump is steering directly into the iceberg. But even if they mutinied, that ship has momentum.

Schumer is paddling desperately to move the iceberg.
