You should watch the full interview first of all, but the trans question starts around 2100 and nowhere does he state he wants to prevent trans people from playing sports

Well the wind appears to have taken him a lot. From 2025-Edit: watched the section...I see why the poster said what they said. He can dance around it but by calling it "unfair" he is saying plenty. Sorry but I will disagree with you.
Lol he is pulls out the "I am the best on Trans...my godson is Trans" stuff" stuff. Next his best friend will be Trans!
Gavin goes where the wind takes him. He loved Trans people as mayor of one of the most progressive cities in the country countering centrists...but the second the issue became the pivot point nationally and he saw it as his inroad to the Nom he took a more centrist position. He is a weasel.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Confronting a wave of extremist, anti-LGBTQ+ attacks from the Trump administration, Governor Gavin Newsom signed seven of Equality California’s priority bills this session — advancing critical protections for LGBTQ+ Californians. These new laws will strengthen protections for transgender and nonbinary people, safeguard privacy, support LGBTQ+ families, and promote dignity and fairness in housing and the workplace. The Governor vetoed two priority measures that would have strengthened access to healthcare and HIV prevention. Together, these actions represent both meaningful progress and disappointing missed opportunities at a time when California’s leadership is needed most.
SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that he has signed legislation strengthening protections and supports for LGBTQ+ Californians, including measures to better support vulnerable youth.
The measures include AB 5 by Assemblymember Rick Chavez Zbur (D-Los Angeles), which sets implementation timelines for required LGBTQ+ cultural competency training by public school teachers and staff. The Governor also signed SB 857 by Senator John Laird (D-Santa Cruz), which will establish an advisory task force to identify LGBTQ+ pupil needs statewide and assist in implementing supportive initiatives, and AB 223 by Assemblymember Christopher Ward (D-San Diego), which requires any petition for a change of gender and sex identifier by a minor to be kept confidential by the court.

it feels like you're holding him to impossibly high standards to write him completely off. I mean that 30-minute interview you dismissed is pretty credible on a wide variety of topics.
I don't find there's any validity to this whatsoever as of yet. I keep hearing about "things" and yet I'm the only one that's brought anything specific to the conversation.I don't feel it is an "impossibly high standard" to have principles and a spine. Even Obama cleared that bar.
We don't need Bernie in heels backwards. We just need somebody with a smidgen of leadership. Newsom is an empty smile and another missed chance at the type of change that gets people angry and fails on focus tests. Obama taught us we cannot just freeze the rot of the last fifty years in place, we have to burn it out or it will just resume its growth the next time the derps grab the wheel.

NEW YORK (AP) — Gavin Newsom hosts President Donald Trump’s allies on his podcast. He’s pushing city officials to crack down on homeless encampments. And this week, he proposed limiting health care coverage for immigrants in the country illegally.
Make no mistake: California’s Democratic governor is appealing to the political center and trying to shed his national reputation as a San Francisco liberal as he contemplates his next career move.
“I’ve been, always, a hardheaded pragmatist,” the 57-year-old told reporters, pointing to his time as San Francisco mayor, when he expanded the city’s police department and backed an ordinance cracking down on panhandling.

Mighty bold of you to assume that we'll still have meaningful elections by 2028...Frankly for 2028 AOC should be the choice and she has zero chance of winning. And that's the problem with everything right now.

On a crisp fall morning, Rep. Anquam Mahamoud, DFL-Minneapolis, was getting fitted for a mountain bike and a helmet.
She was giddy.
“I had biking out here on my to-do list,” she said. “So, I was very excited when Cal proposed this. I was like, ‘Yes, let's do it.'”
‘Cal’ is Rep. Cal Warwas, R-Eveleth. He represents a swath of the Iron Range in the heart of mining country, which includes a former taconite-mine-turned-mountain-bike-park near Chisholm.
Warwas was excited, too — even though he’s been biking there a lot.
"This will be amazing,” he reassured Mahamoud.
For the next hour-and-a-half, Warwas and Mahamoud biked through the woods just as the fall colors were starting to emerge.
This excursion is part of a new legislative swap. It’s like a foreign exchange program, but for the adults elected to serve in the state Legislature. It’s sponsored by the Citizens League, a St. Paul nonprofit that promotes civility in politics and public policy.
It’s among the first such programs in the nation, said Citizens League Executive Director Jake Loesch. So far, four pairs of legislators have participated, and more are signed up for next year.
I have been following Gavin since he was Mayor (cause I liked him) and watching him soften to the Center is pretty obvious if you go back. Hell he gives you a nice breakdown of it in the interview. If Gavin was still in San Fran his policy/opinion on Trans Athletes wouldn't exist and he rails against whoever is in Sacramento for suggesting anything.I don't find there's any validity to this whatsoever as of yet. I keep hearing about "things" and yet I'm the only one that's brought anything specific to the conversation.
btw I'm not sold on Newsom whatsoever but if we're going to disqualify him make it make sense.
It's going to be less fun voting for him in the General, but despite his slime or perhaps because of it he can win.

For what it's worth it would be nice to see a lot more of this.

She’s a liberal MN legislator; he’s a conservative. A bike trip brought them together
A handful of Minnesota legislators from opposite sides of the aisle are pairing up to learn more about each other's districts. This comes at a time of deep political polarization and just months after the politically motivated assassination of former House Speaker Melissa Hortman.www.mprnews.org
