Minnesota Women's Hockey 2025-26

Yeah, I'm in agreement here. Got off to the 4-1 lead on just nine shots and Minnesota's not blowing that lead. Not an ideal game from the analytics perspective, but they won, and that's what matters. That's what you need sometimes. I'll take this weekend result.

The Gophs are going to have plenty of games this year where they are without two of their top five D. Not sure why they felt it necessary to add another one to the list, especially given that it will be versus a team that they really need to finish above in the standings. Situational awareness is sadly lacking.

No DQ for Rasmussen or Baxter and DQs for Primarano and Graham?

Pardon my Maroon accented french: that's absolute bullshit.

Further shorthanded tonight with Paul and Hovland (injuries) out of the lineup in addition to the suspensions to the British Columbian contingent of the blueline.

4-0 final over the Bulldogs...Very nice game from the tunnelers even though they were shorthanded. I liked the effort from #24 on defense and #9 and #10 from the forward group. Just a good overall performance from the team.

Seemed like kind of a strange game. Gophers played a good first period with nothing to show for it, but then they got a couple of bounces in an uneven second. Meanwhile, the 'Dogs lose a game and a goalie.

(I went into volleyball mode at about 6 PM) what happened to Gascon?

Abbey Murphy is more fun to watch this year. She's traded in a portion of her chippiness and whining in favor of making some spectacularly dumb passes. I consider this to be a positive development. I don't want to make too much of it yet, because I said the same thing at this point of the season last year (about the chippiness, not the passing) and it didn't last. I'm afraid that the same thing may happen this year, because the refs are making calls based upon her reputation rather than what actually happened, and if there's no reward for better behavior, she might well regress. And she takes a physical beating.

On UM's second goal, she made a save where the rebound bounced off of a UMD defender and toward the goal. The Gophers' announcer described it as her seeming to injure herself trying to lunge at the puck before it crossed the line, and maybe a shoulder injury. My takeaway was likely upper body but not concussion protocol. In theory, it could be anything from a rotator cuff to tweaking her back or neck. Hopefully, it will be nothing too serious and she's back in action today.

As Gascon left she ice, she was holding her left arm in a way that suggested a shoulder injury.
