I figured that the time he had spent training with NHL players had advanced him more, but you are probably correct. Then again, he could have reinjured himself in the BU game.Probably just toward the end of the depth chart as he ramps up
Good interview. Love his recruiting strategy. Ontario, Quebec, prep, ushl, Europe. Stay close to home None of this 75 recruits from Alberta league. Love that he’s taking some of what he learned from Riley at West Point and applying it to RPI. Toughness, discipline, determination. Lang is the perfect fit for this job.I don't think anyone has put this here yet. It's a pretty good interview with Coach Lange: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HCu6RGze4I
Agree. He's in with both feet.... living in a hotel room and away from family ! Mentioned his daughter is playing at Berkshire Prep and his son is at Bishop Kearney in Rochester.Good interview. Gilson had a big game for QPACInterestingly, coming into yesterday's game, Sutter Muzzatti lead Notre Dame in scoring (now 1 behind team leader). Going into today's games, Felix Caron leads Ohio State in scoring and Tyler Hotson leads Bowling Green in scoring.
The stage is gone. Most RPI fans also are sad that it was removed also.BC fan here, drove up from NY City for last night's game. I used to attend one or two RPI games a year when I lived upstate in the 1990s and they used to have the band on a stage at the end of the rink. I saw last night they dismantled the stage altogether. Is the stage a seasonal thing? I always thought the band on the stage and the director jumping around was cool.
The band stage was moved/removed to accommodate refrigeration equipment to supplement/replace failed/failing equipment in the HFH. A new floor/boards/glass will be installed in Spring/Summer 2026. This is part of a multi-phase renovation master plan. THe A.D. did an interview over the weekend where she indicated that eventually, the band will return to the end zone....hopefully sometime before my AARP membership activates..LOLBC fan here, drove up from NY City for last night's game. Yes.I saw that a linesman's name for the BC game, was Donovan Ott. Is that the same person who played for RPI 8-10 years ago?
Hopefully it will be even better. The stage pre-dated the era of nets so it was pretty low, presumably to keep the brass and percussion from getting killed. I hope the new setup (I’ve advocated for a mirror image of the west end with an open band platform replacing Shirley’s Palace) will put the entire band above the glass. The band stage was moved/removed to accommodate refrigeration equipment to supplement/replace failed/failing equipment in the HFH. I hope so because he sounded pretty damn frustrated during the interview between the second and third period last night. I suspect he then lit a fire under the entire team because, although I only saw about 1/2 the third period, they seemed a bit more competitive.Watching that interview gave me some hope. Not for this year, but for the coming two or three years.
I did not know about his time at West Point.
I have great respect for the Army program and the hoops they have to go through to put a team on the ice, court, or field.
I hope we can get at least a part of what coach K learned there.
Was only a little over six years ago; he last played for RPI in 2019. He joined mid-season in Dave Smith's first year when a couple players left after the first half. He played hard, but didn't have the speed to be a scorer in Division I. He was a good player in Division III, however, averaging a a point per game for a good Utica team.I saw that a linesman's name for the BC game, was Donovan Ott. RPI did an interview with Bowers last night. She mentioned details as we've related here before, but what was news to me was her stating that they are already underway in corporate fundraising for the HFH Phase II portion $50 million or so -- ( which would be a building addition off of the home bench side of the rink. Space would be for M's and W's locker rooms, training and treatment , meeting rooms offices, etc. Also, she stated they are pursuing a corporate sponsor for naming rights at the HFH i.e. "The Doc and Jenny Center at Houston Field House". So folks should get ready for that to happen at some point. Is there anywhere to find more info about the potential renovation plans? Or is there nothing yet, beyond Lang's comments over the summer about the multi-phase process and the comments over the weekend from the AD?
As for the hockey, a tough weekend as expected.
Though RPI did a good job of being competitive in the first period in both games, before it slipped away. The power play needs to improve - had many opportunities to get back into the game against Providence but couldn't convert. And the ugly reality is that we've given up five goals in all four games. But even if the performances and results aren't there, I am optimistic about the foundations being built for the long-term.
Long trip and another strong opponent with Minnesota State (who are still Mankato State to me). Let's hope for a first win.
