UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Boys hockey last year, teams that went it alone:

Thornton Academy, Lewiston, Bangor (plus one kid from Narraguagus), Edward Little, Scarborough, Falmouth, Kents Hill, St. Dom's, Camden Hills, Presque Isle, Gorham, Greely, York, Cape Elizabeth

St. Dom's is done. Haven't heard of any other new co-ops but you never know.

Brunswick is the only girls team that is single town.

More and more yeah, cost and less kids.
Here hamden and Bapst still on their own. For how much longer though?

Hampden is technically a co-op with Nokomis, but I'm not sure how many Nokomis kids play. John Bapst is formally "John Bapst/Hermon/Bangor Christian/Deer Isle-Stonington."

How’s a kid from Guagus end up playing for Bangor? Black Woods road in the winter is no fun.

It’s sad across the board how down high school sports are in Maine but obviously times change.

St. Doms is done?!?! Imagine telling someone 10-15 years ago there would be no Waterville or St. Doms hockey

Just an FYI….tours of Alfond tomorrow morning after dedication. Nice interior pics at the WBRC site….

The old locker room was so out dated compared to the new one

Got a chance to check out the new facilities today and they are really impressive. Locker rooms are really spacious and everything flows well from area to area. Players had nothing but glowing things to say.

Gonna try and make it up to a practice this week so hopefully we'll have some line combos to ponder before the UNH exhibition.

They will need to adjust the NHL player wall in the dining area as there were a few mistakes but pretty minor complaint there.

It's nice that Maine finally had the money to do something right. I've never been a fan of Alfond as a building (love the atmosphere though!)......but they've taken a lemon and made lemonade. The newly renovated areas are stunning and the entire complex is truly unique in the college hockey world.
