Business, Economics, and Taxes: Eat Cereal for Dinner

I heard it as:

In heaven, the Italians are the lovers, the Germans are the mechanics, the French are the chefs, the Norwegians write the code, and the British are the police.

I’ve had French dishes cooked by French chefs. For receiving so many accolades, their dishes always strike me as being very bland.

Based on my few forays, French cuisine is heavy and intimidating. I have enjoyed everything about the experience of a fine French restaurant except the food.

I’ve never had a bland French dish, just not a diversely spiced French dish. It’s extremely narrow relative to the full spectrum of flavor profiles.

Y’all need to try being related to a French Michelin chef :)

It does not suck

This whole site is great but, in particular:

And another. Just look how relatively poor the average American is. This chart would destroy the myths of the last 50 years.

Very related- recently a few lawsuits against Tesla for their "self driving' features that have been killing people. They are asking for mere hundreds of millions as penalties to Tesla. Who paid their "leader" something like $40B last year? No excuse that they can't afford it. They are complaining that it's a threat do vehicle technology advancement, and my easy reply would be- well, you clearly have a spare billion dollars to develop the technology fully, and you chose to pay someone instead of put out a safe product.

The real hard part now is to find things for people to do so that they feel the earned the money. We can still make stuff, but it will need a massive influx of investment. Perhaps we can tell billionaires that they can either pay 10% tax on their wealth, or they can do what they promised in trickle down economics and spend 9% on new industries in the US.

Oh you aren't wrong, I just think it's a great joke. Given the choice, I would prefer to eat Italian food and deal with angry French lovers. 🙂

My wife has a friend who moved over there permanently, married a French man, became a citizen, etc. One of her biggest complaints after 20 years is that no one over there can produce even a competent facsimile of Mexican food. It's like they've literally never heard of a chili pepper, cumin, or cilantro.

Fucking Slovenia is only 4 spots lower.

"Nicest third world country I've ever been to" indeed.

When I was in Paris most of the "local" food (cause like half the food there is pizza now cause...tourism) was not bland at all. Very rich, very flavorful and very not healthy!

They can barely handle American food...

US Soccer player Weston McKennie got dragged for some comments he made while at Juventus regarding Italian food. Among the comments that were “controversial” was that, while Italian food is good, Italy does not have much in the way of food variety compared to the US or even other European metropolises like say London or Berlin.
