Business, Economics, and Taxes: Eat Cereal for Dinner

They must not have seen the report that imports from China are down like 60% already...the supply chain shock this summer could be U-G-L-Y.

They fell for the oldest trick in economics/negotiations...make things stupid high so when you lower them to less stupid levels it looks like a compromise. Wall Street and the investor class just outed themselves as dumber than my old community college students.

At least they didn't get involved in a land war in Asia or go in against a Sicilian when death was on the line...

If the tariffs continue, in unintended consequences, Canada may relax or adjust their auto safety rules to allow European imports into the Canadian market.

Including models manufactured but unavailable in North America by the Big Three.

A neat concept for those who are tired of automobiles having every bell & whistle, and would already be inclined to do at least some of their own work. It won't replace anyone's lifted, cityslicker "lux truck", but that's not the point. It's obviously aimed at minimalists and DIY-minded people.

That's not going to sell very much.

The number of people who honestly don't want the bells and whistles have been going down for decades, the number of people who buy cheap vehicles brand new has always been really low, and the number of DIY'ers have gone down once OEMs understood that maintenance work done by the owner is mostly really hated.

Minimalists would rather use public transportation.

I agree it likely won't do well. A lot of people say they miss the light pickup segment, but for under $30k the Maverick is there (if Ford can get past the recent recalls) and doesn't have the electric range limitation. For people who like mods and aftermarket kits, the Jeep Wrangler still holds up as the gold standard.

Trump finally released details of his first trade deal.

He reached an agreement with Columbia (House) to trade only 1 penny for 11 cassettes, and has agreed to buy three more in the next year for only $11.99

The market responded by crashing for some reason.

The US has become that Demotivation poster:

I guess the world finally growing up is a fair exchange for the US decline into a screaming toddler.
