Putting this out there now: if it comes down to Minn vs Ohio St tomorrow, I'll be rooting for Ohio State. I CAN NOT root for a team with Abbey Murphy on it. As insufferable as the Buckeye fans are and would be, I just cannot.

I'm not sure who has a bigger unlike-ability score, Muzzy or Little Miss Sassy Pants.

In some programs a player like that wouldn’t wear the C. She can be wildly entertaining but some of her stuff is tough to watch. I’m sure some of her teammates get sick of it. Also in most programs wearing the C means being held to a higher standard than everyone else.
It really messes with the games. Opposing players target her like crazy. She dives constantly. When she gets hit and lays on the ice you never know if she’s really hurt or not. Refs don’t know how to call the games.

But Frost needs her.

How do you mean he needs her? Just that she keeps the team in the top 4 and that’s enough?

(I wasn't assuming, but I was anticipating)

Players going for their third national championship Sunday:

Wisconsin
---------------
Lacey Eden, Katie Kotlowski, Casey O'Brien

Ohio State
---------------
Jenna Buglioni, Riley Brengman, Amanda Thiele

and the "others:
-------------------------
Makenna Webster - one so far for each school
Maddie Wheeler - two so far for Wisconsin
Quinn Kuntz - two so far for Ohio State

(I hope I'm not missing anyone.)

FWIW: The refs for the Wisconsin-Minnesota game were ECAC refs. And the refs for Ohio State-Cornell were the same pair who did last week's Wisconsin-Clarkson game. One AHA, I think. And the other. Chris Binkley, used to be WCHA a few years ago.

Fuck Abbey Murphy!
I just went to ESPN+ to watch the hit everyone's talking about, and damn...that was just straight-up dirty. Murphy came from a long way out just to do Harvey like that, and it should have been the end of Murphy's night. At least when Harvey got her back, there was an actual play for the puck involved.

It's cool that OB and Web are still besties per an article by TDM. There's a funny quote in there from Muzzy where she says she doesn't understand how they can still be best friends and be on opposing teams. She is pretty much heartless.

I remember when those two committed to UW and I was gushing over Web constantly and maybe it was ARM who said don't sleep on OB. ARM was right.

It wasn't me. There are people who follow the preps and U-18 ranks closely and know who is who; it was likely one of them. It wasn't until Covid days when those two made the difference in your 2021 title that I realized their true abilities.

Dunne looks tired holy god. Gonna be a long third period.

I admire the shots on these skaters. Cheap and fun off season activity any young player should be taking advantage of

Dirty move from Simms. Play the game ladies….
The OSU power play has looked awful if
They get one here, mows a good time to get it going

Is that a legal goal? I looked at it several times, and I'm not sure. The puck must be kept in motion towards the goal line. If they used such a tight definition of covering a puck (called on replay, not live, so they figure it is clear and obvious), then I don't think that puck was moving toward the goal line before she shot it.

Doesn't matter now; 3-3.

I see what I think is backward motion on shootout shots so often, I really don't know what's allowed and what isn't. Yeah, she maybe pulled back a bit. but I think I see that a lot.

Sometimes the pulling back doesn't matter, because the skater is still moving forward, so the puck is, too. Here, she savored it a bit, so the whole play slowed down. As with most things, no way that these officials are going to be able to make that call unless they knew to take a look at it. The coach can't challenge, because that would be another penalty and would mean a likely goal against if unsuccessful. In the history books, it's a goal, and that's all I need to know.
