This is what really concerns me. Given the scale of infection we could have tens or hundreds of thousands of people who long term are unable to work which is the last thing our economy needs. Not to mention the unnecessary human suffering.

I'm not sure something has ever irritated me more than this. This is something that was relatively straightforward to deal with, and honestly shouldn't have been that big of deal, and Trump has ****** it up beyond belief. He's even managed to turn it into a left-right issue which it never should have been.

I am way too lazy to look it up (and with the downgrade it would be even harder) but this is one of the first things I posted way back in March and that was when we knew only that it took weeks to make an initial recovery. Before we knew there were lasting effects that is eerily similar to the phenomenon of Post Polio or Post Lyme syndromes. The impact goes past just them not working. Chronicity almost always impacts the ability of other family members to work, and impacts them in the economic sphere into the next generation. Lots of research done on the impact of other chronic diseases. This one is probably worse because the illness may affect more than one family member

Yesterday a man in northern Michigan threatened to stab a Meijer employee who told him he had to wear a mask.

Today a man in Lansing was killed after he stabbed a man at a convenience store he told him to wear a mask. Police were able to trail him to his home where they say he then charged officers with his knife and they shot him where he later died at the hospital.

Just heard about a party in Saline over the 4th weekend- large home party, with over 50 there. Apparently over 30 people have been traced to have gotten it from that party.

More examples of people not being capable of doing the right thing.

But is the 4th of July. I absolutely have to congregate in large masses, get knee-walking drunk, and party my balls off.

Have to. Anything less just ain't the 4th. How would our forefathers feel, me not celebrating them like that?

132 dead in Florida today. From a state that is actively fudging the numbers.

But deaths are dropping. 'Stats' told me so.

And this reflects the cases 2-4 weeks ago, since it generally takes that long for most. Back when the cases per week were 23k-40k. Now they are double that.

I'm sure someone will just say it's their time, but they were preventable. What a sorry excuse for leadership Florida has.

Well this is discouraging. A credible study done by the CDC with the actual SARS-CoV-2 virus shows that it retains infectivity in the air for up to 16 hours.
*SIXTEEN HOURS IN THE AIR.*

This was first out way back in March but they were still in evaluating the data phase. This is why doing anything inside is not a good idea- esp doing things where people sequentially spend time in a space.

Maine is below 400 known cases. 8 new today. I figured this thread needed some good news.

I was up in Maine a week ago and the guy we talked to had someone on his crew have a family member diagnosed. He had no idea what the protocol should be. It was stunning how different it was compared to here where almost anyone, even the ones who think it is a hoax know what the protocol is. I would like to go be there, away from all the stupids.

Its mostly about population density. The most cases in So. Maine. The other thing is Mainuhs liked social distancing long before Covid :)
