Just peeked at FreeRepublic. That checks out.

Is Freep 100% on board with Dump? Back in 2016, which is basically the last time I looked in on that 1 a.m. Port Authority men's room, there was a vociferous anti-Dump faction (they were usually pro-Cruz) who thought he was an obvious silver spoon doofus who was just going to con The Sacred Movement.

Did they go over to the cult too, or get purged?

Jim Rob took them full-on Dump in spring 2016 after the first few primaries. The Cruz faction gradually either lined up and got on their knees for Cheeto, or they were zotted. Those remaining still sometimes accuse Freepers they deem insufficiently loyal to Dump of being "Cruzers" and Jim Rob presumably bilks them for an extra donation under threat of getting the zot.

Blissfully unaware of who this is. My acquaintance with the Derp-o-sphere is very hands-off.

Shorthand for Jim Robinson, the guy who owns FR (cf. Rim Job, if you're feeling snarky). His alleged brother John supposedly wrote the software and does the IT work to keep the site running, which explains why the GUI is permanently stuck in 1996.

Got it. Thanks.

Don't give him that much credit. Someone on Twitter pointed out that the segment immediately before his plea to get vaccinated was a bit just sowing doubt in the vaccine, and the segment immediately after his plea was a story of a young girl who died weeks after getting a (non-Covid) vaccine.

A few people pointed out that seeing the network 180 on their stance isn't going to sway their loyal viewers to get vaccinated. Instead, it's just going to make those viewers suspicious that the "deep state" has gotten a hold of the network.

I am not giving him any credit...it is all on Faux Legal and Faux Corporate. It is a full on defensive measure for everyone but Tucker because his ratings are just too good.

(I almost posted the tweet about the other segments but I figured someone else would)

dx,

It almost assuredly has to do with the markets and lawsuits. World markets are freaking out and the US market is just now starting to feel it. It is all based on Delta running rampant and reports that upwards of 40% of this country don't plan to ever get vaccinated, the vast majority being morons who think Faux is anything but performance art. Hell Brian Kilmeade on Faux and Friends basically said if people want to die that is their choice after Douchey told people to get the shot. Faux is scared... Plus the added twist that it went viral that the very procedures that Faux has been railing against (mask mandates and so called "vaccine passports" ) are the very policies they have put in place in their own buildings. The timeline is too on the nose to be coincidental. There are lots of media types that have been pointing it out for the last 48 hours or so. (Amy Siskin and Moly Jong-Fast amongst others)

They have been bleeding viewers for months because they aren't "Trump Enough" so it is no surprise the Freepers think they are compromised. Of course they ARE compromised so it actually oddly checks out.

My GF was just in Illinois visiting her Trumper relatives...even the one who is 100% in the tank for him (has a fundraising thank you letter on her fridge from him) got the friggin vaccine. She said "I don't know what it is or if it works but it is in my body!". She is a 70 year old head of libraries so she is educated enough to know better.

The crazy thing is the very people railing against the virus are the ones saying Trump should get credit for its creation. We should change our tune...tell them to never get it because Trump should never get credit for anything. Convince them to get vaxxed to own the Libz! ;^)

Even with Fish Sticks they've put out the Alex Jones "everybody knows this is a comedy routine" CYA.

Zero chance it has to do with the markets. They don't give a shit if it tanks during a biden admin. And certainly not a single-day loss. If it was a 2k-point loss, yeah, maybe. But 700 or whatever it was, not a chance.

The only time you change your position that fast is running from a chlorine trifluoride spill or a lawyer says you're getting barebacked with a drum sander if you don't shut up.

If I've learned anything since I've started pandemic watching/listening to CNBC, it's that Mondays and Fridays occasionally have steep "correction" days followed by bounceback days. It's the prolonged slide that we all have to be concerned about.

You are thinking about it wrong. It isn't about Biden it is about their bottom line. Companies bleeding money advertise less. This is coming from up on high.

It's just another part of the grift.

Ok. That's a good point. You might be onto something there.

BUT I still think think lawyers got involved somewhere. Because your theory doesn't explain why the segments immediately preceding and following hannity's "get vaccinated *wwwwwiiiiiink*" segment were how vaccines are bad.

It's not my theory...I just subscribe to it :^)

The weekend hedge -- you take defensive positions on Friday in case bad news breaks over the weekend (so you're not crushed on market open Monday); on Monday if all is acceptable you restore your positions.

Yup, and overeager buying on Friday corrected on Monday.

Notices typed up in large enough font all over the store saying "due to a bank coin shortage, our self-scan machines aren't taking cash or giving cash back" or something like that.

Somehow, this is the employees' fault. And watching entitled Boomers blow up over this is hilarious and sad at the same time.

I saw a note on the door yesterday that Aldi is requiring exact change if you pay in cash. I wonder how many people miss the memo and get up to the checkout before they're told they can't get change.
