Tech help!!

I apologize if there’s a thread for this already…

i need some guidance. I have an old 160 gig iPod classic that contains 21,000 songs. Most ripped from cds, and roughly 300-400 are songs were shared via email and I moved to iTunes years and years ago but were never uploaded to the iCloud (songs from various bands I played in)…

my issue is I have a new laptop with windows 11, intel 7 and there appears to be no way to rip music from the iPod to the laptop. Even in iTunes I see no way to accomplish this.

any thoughts on how to save this music? I’m worrried the iPod won’t last much longer and I want to save these files.

There are two apps now for the computer- one is Apple Music and I can’t recall the other- which is the one used to sync music and whatnot. Not sure if it works for an iPod, but it’s the new thing for phones.

Also, it’s possible that the iPod will be seen as a drive??? Maybe?

Google is your friend :)

Just a quick search "does windows 11 read old ipods" turns up a lot of results with walkthroughs on how to get your ipod loading in itunes. Like all tech there appears to be a few people who cant get it to work, but to answer your question yes you should be able to do it, and with a bit of internet sleuthing and some patience you should be able to solve whatever issues arise barring corrupted data or fried hardware.

Thanks! Yes, I tried sharepod but it didn’t work.

i’ll keep digging.

I totally understand your concern—I've had a similar issue with my iPod in the past. Unfortunately, iTunes doesn't offer an easy way to transfer music from your iPod back to your computer. But there are third-party apps that can help. Programs like iMazing or CopyTrans allow you to easily transfer music from your iPod to your laptop. These tools let you back up your iPod's content, including songs not purchased through iTunes, like your band's tracks. Just make sure to back up your iPod regularly before it potentially gives out. If you're dealing with technology frustrations, I’ve found that reaching out to bell customer service can be really helpful. They’re good at troubleshooting and guiding you through tech-related challenges—whether it’s internet, mobile, or even questions about syncing devices.

I need some help and hopefully someone here can help…My iPhone won’t charge with a cable anymore, I assume the port is messed up. I’ve tried cleaning it and restarting the phone but it didn’t help. With that being said I bought a plugin wireless charger that works great but I need something that works in the car and with my battery pack. I got a MagSafe charger and USB adapter but it doesn’t work in my car or with battery pack. Any recommendations on what I could try differently that might work?

1. What kind of connector does your iPhone have, Lightning or USB-C?
2. How did you try to clean the port?
3. Does the connector simply not stay in the charging port firmly?
4. Can you not insert it at all?

I have a lightning connector. I have used toothpicks to try to clean it. After my post I went a second round and touch wood that did the job. I was previously able to insert the cable but it didn’t seem to hold. Now I am able to get a firm connection. There was an ungodly amount of dust I removed.

What does “touch wood” mean in that context? Usually, a lightning cable won’t seat itself correctly because of lint buildup within the port. A gentle and patient scraping with a soft wooden toothpick or two should solve that issue. Using other materials may have altered the housing, either breaking data transfer contacts directly or re-shaping the port’s housing structure in some manner. I’ve cleaned that port on a few different iPhones, always how I described, and never has it altered the function.

If you’re intent on keeping the iPhone, then you may want to head to a repair shop or start working towards a YouTube University degree on the subject.

Touch wood is the Canadian version of knock on wood. It's a superstitious good luck act. He figured a little bit of luck "allowed" his method to work. That's the context.
