Quinnipiac Bobcats 2023-24 Regular Season - Embrace the grind

I got a good laugh out of the comments that Rand works the refs! I’m a long time BC season ticket holder in football, basketball and hockey. I have seen Gary Williams berate many referees and watched Addazio chase them into the locker room! Rand’s a real light weight compared to some of the coaches we have had when it comes to treatment of officials!

A very interesting stat was QU being 2nd in the country in defense and 5th in offense. That’s a very good and well coached team. Definitely, QU is the 5th best team at least in the country. Sometimes the regional final is the toughest game of the tournament.

I couldn’t agree more with Rands comments after the first period. Both teams used only two lines for a good part of the first period, each realizing how important the first goal and playing with the lead would be in the direction of the game. I give BC a ton of credit playing with a freshman goalie, 3 freshman and 2 sophomores on defense. To come back from down 2-0 and outscore a very tough defensive team 5-2 shows a lot of grit and determination.

I know that Jerry York really thinks highly of Rand. It was JY that scheduled the series with Rand.

Just about every coach in every sport works the officials. Some are more obvious than others. Some are animated, some are vocal, some are both. Rand is a little of both, Brown seems to be vocal. He clearly got red faced a couple of times "talking" to the refs last Sunday. I'm sure he wasn't extending Easter pleasantries.

The other side of this is the quality of the officiating. We've had some real winners in the ECAC. There's nothing worse than a ref who makes sure we know they're on the ice. Most of them deserve to be worked over.
