Climate Change 3: Whatever you do don't call it a twatwaffle

First comment I saw below that video was "Obvious green screen. Not real."

Unbelievable.

I’m watching that video, knowing about the wild fires consuming much of Greece, but the vivid colors of the fire against that absolute black char makes all look something approaching a surreal visual. The fake stuff from Hollywood looks more acceptable to my eyes than the true event does.

Yeah, it honestly is so fucking horrific it could be Michael Bay.

But that's the thing about this timeline. It's so fucked up it could be a terrible dystopia. Dump was president, for fuck's sake.

Yep. They accomplished their goal. Congratulations are in order.

Love how the younger generations blame the older generations for raping the planet while constantly b-tching because they don't get as much stuff which is what destroys the planet.

The Boomers don't suck because they destroyed the Earth. The Boomers suck because their music is tired and played out and was never that good anyway, but is still ubiquitous because they have all the purchasing power and the lowest common denominator always controls public space.

Plus: generations aren't real.

I know what that generation did with their power. They're still wielding it.

I don’t know how much exposure all of you have to 20 somethings in the workplace but I don’t think it’s that they want more stuff.

I hire a ton of 22-25 year olds each year. Less amd less even have cars. They’re leaving me for sustainability and health equity jobs and they have no dreams of buying a home.

i don’t think a lot of the complaining is for wanting more stuff, unless you mean like healthcare that’s affordable

I know what that generation did with their power.

What every American generation did it with it.

Bestowing characteristics on a generation is as ignorant and/or mendacious as bestowing them on a fan base*. People are people. Your team isn't any better or worse than anybody else's. This is a vanity project for stroking egos.

* Exception: Boston does suck worse than anybody else.

Name me one Boomer who fits that description. I'll find you a unicorn.

Boomers were just the genetic copies who happened to be in existence at the moment in history when our capacity to extract and expend resources so greatly exceeded our scientific understanding of the consequences of those actions that we, collectively, were able to f up the planet in an impossibly short geologic timespan.

Much like Civil War soldiers had the misfortune to be at the point in history when our capacity to kill so greatly exceeded our capacity to heal, only it was the soldiers themselves who paid for that asymmetry, not the entire population.

Edit: interesting thought: prior to 1900, climate change occurred at the timescale of astronomy and geology. Post-1900, it occurs at the timescale of chemistry.

I mean I don’t think anyone was saying that fits boomers. I was just saying I think the 20 somethings are not just wanting more material things. Some of them are genuinely afraid the planet will be cooked by the time they are 50

Plus: generations aren't real.

Yes they are, if nothing else because demographics means some generations punch above their weight because they have the sheer numbers to do so, as you tacitly admit with the Boomers and their ability to still drive pop culture to an extent.

Millennials will eventually get there, too, again just based on sheer numbers alone.

I would hope we won't be as selfish as the Boomers once we take power, but I guess history will be the ultimate judge.
