There is an easy and effective budget solution at the local level, particularly in red zones, sitting right there under our noses. Don’t waste money on science and math teachers and curricula. Rs don’t believe in science or math as they apply to the most important issues of our day: climate change, COVID, and vote counting. Fund just enough teachers and materials teach D and I children. Give each R child a new cell phone and a month-long data plan. No roaming needed, since they don’t have enough curiosity to go anywhere.
Apply the same solution to all civics classes. Rs have no interest in understanding the Constitution or anything else relating to the way a representative democracy is designed to work. Just make sure they have access to Fox News in the home.
There, we’ve already saved enough money at the local level to send every D child to college and buy every R child a used Chevy. But if we want to solve all our budget problems forever, we can close our courthouses and send all judges and other court personnel home. Rs clearly do not believe in the rule of law.
There may be some glitches in my plan, but it would at least weaken the grip over-educated elitists have on our daily lives. It’s time for some common sense solutions.
