Former President Donald Trump suggested that the proposed prisoner swap between Russia and the United States that would return jailed WNBA star Brittney Griner in exchange for a Russian arms dealer "doesn’t seem like a very good trade."

"She knew you don’t go in there loaded up with drugs, and she admitted it," Trump told the Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show. "I assume she admitted it without too much force because it is what it is, and it certainly doesn’t seem like a very good trade, does it? He’s absolutely one of the worst in the world, and he’s gonna be given his freedom because a potentially spoiled person goes into Russia loaded up with drugs."

Honestly...Trump is right. The amount of handwringing over the Griner situation is stupid and we definitely should not be making this trade. She fucked up and now the world will be less safe because of it.

How about we just give Russia Musk and a Greenwald to be named later...

I can go either way but I had some sympathy for her cause the punishment doesn't fit the crime. But, if we're ok how other countries treat our citizens no matter than that's fine with me. Save some money on the State Department if we just go the other way.

Oh, and how many laws has Trump broken? He's right though, right?

Agreed. Like, you don't get to claim ignorance or forgetfulness when you're talking about what our country only recently started to decriminalize. I don't give a fuck if you have some sort of medical need. I'm not importing anything to another country, much less one with an extremely adversarial relationship, without getting the greenlight first.

If we're talking Russia, I'd question every single item in my bag.

What does this have to do with everything. This is insane and exactly what we wring our hands about with the Republicans. What makes us different is that we can evaluate whether a statement is factual or not based on its merits, not who says it.

What you posted is dangerously close to "own the libs" but for the left.

i mean I don’t like people being imprisoned for no reason but sounds like she broke a basic law. No way is this close to even trade with a freaking arms dealer getting cut loose.

You think Russia will give up their leverage for less? Or, are we ok with 14-16 years being taken away from our citizens for "minor" drug offenses? I mean, I am good either way. Ex-President of the US thinks she committed the crime she should do the time.

Well I think a lot of nations have laws that seem draconian when it comes to women leaving the home, drugs, etc.

some euro woman will be on vacation here and when she gets infected and then jailed for a miscarriage, I’m sure her home nation will have some issues

I imagine even in that sick twisted scenario we will be more than happy to send them home. That is if they survive the hospital visit.
 
Wow lots happened this weekend.

I'm absolutely disgusted by the crocodile tears of the GQP voting against a bill they voted for, and said they'll vote for this week. Just because of a completely separate and unrelated deal made by Democrats on something they'd been working on for literally a year. Not to mention the outright lying over the contents of the bill and $400 billion something something. Good for John Stewart for calling them out on it but I really wish someone on the D side would, for once, dispense with the pleasantries and just go scorched earth.

"Normally I'd preface this by saying 'My esteemed colleague Senator Traitorface', but all things considered I cannot. Senator Traitorface voted against a bill he supported just one short month ago (along with xxx of his colleagues) that would ensure benefits are extended to our military heroes who were exposed to - and suffer the consequences from - exposure to these toxic burn pits while valiantly fighting for our freedoms. Senator Traitorface insults the memory of all who've died and all who will die due to the consequences of their proximity to these burn pits. Senator Traitorface further spits in their eyes by fistbumping Senator FleesTexas over successfully blocking this bill.

And to be blunt, Senator Traitorface is outright lying when he said <blah blah blah $400 billion> and he knows it. Senator Traitorface, I call you to answer for your lies and dishonesty. Are you for support our troops? Or are you for publicity and supporting the war machine."
