This. So much this. A complete cluster fuck that was. Mueller deferred to Congress essentially and Congress was never going to do anything with big bad Mitch.

Feckless is unfair. He was trying to tightrope walk and he wound up not serving his nation. He was trying to give enough to Republicans in Congress to turn on Dump without compromising themselves, but the GOP was so cowardly they would not take Dump's mushroom out of their rump for fear of alienating the mob.

Mueller was playing by the old rules, unaware that the Republican party had gone full fascist and full cult. In other words, he was doing what Sic is doing right now -- pretending nothing out of the ordinary is happening when the walls of democracy are collapsing.
 
So then he was and is feckless. You can play semantics all you want it doesn't change the fact that the man was the wrong man at the wrong time.

If he had any pride in the work he was doing he would have gotten up the day his buddy Barr flat out lied about the report and told the truth. He didn't even though it was well within his rights to do so. He didn't either because he was too weak willed or because he was glad Barr did it to take the heat off of him. Either way, Mueller is no hero he was just part of the problem.

No, this is ridiculous. It's like hammering Tom Perez. You expect miracles because you do not have the least understanding about things get done politically. The difference between the results of an FDR and an Obama is 95% lucky timing and opportunity. It's the Art of the Possible, not the science of whatever I want.

I mean this quite seriously: you think it's so easy? You try it. Anyone can play. Palin and Gaetz and Gohmert and MTG and Boebert prove that literally ANYBODY can be in government. So take your shot. I guarantee you will be a million times better than any of them.

Except if he was pretending (empasis mine in the quoted portion) that indicates he KNEW what was going on and either was explicitly complict or willfully blind and tangentially complicit. Sort of how trump pretended to believe that there was any voter fraud at all that cost him the election and in doing so sent his violent minions to the Capitol, armed and ready to prevent the transfer of power following a free and fair election. Mueller may not have incited violence that directly led to anyone's death, but he's certainly part of the problem and not part of the solution.
