Liz Cheney is talking publicly how the committee has proof Trump was watching the Insurrection on TV and ignoring the pleas to make a statement about it to try and calm people down. I think they are going to subpoena him...

Since we're gaming it out internationally, I think for a decade a Rightwing Amerika would be peaceful, ending remaining institutional limitations on their power the way Putin and Erdogan did and Modi, Orban, and Bolsanaro tried to do. Hamper the opposition, take full control of the courts, purge the military and the state bureaucracy. I don't think we'd even see dramatic public policy changes at first, just inside baseball stuff to remove any chance of them losing an election or being effectively criticized on media. We'd also see a fair amount of inept profit-taking from the strictly mercenary types like Dump himself.

Let's say 3 years to seize full control of the government. Then the regime would begin down that hedonic treadmill that ends in complete collapse for every authoritarian regime eventually. As the economy seizes up under their ineptitude and brigandage, we'll see internal enemies identified as the ones at fault for the economic miracle not materializing. That will be first communists and gays, then religious minorities, and finally liberals. Maybe Jews, it's unclear how that will break. Obviously, racial minorities all along. They won't assimilate, dontachaknow.

But after another 3 years of escalating purges from jacking people up to full on surveillance of populations, next always comes a military build up and a manufactured conflict to give it something to do. This not only stokes the reptile brain of right wing supporters but also diverts vast resources into easily skimmable channels. Maybe at this point they also have a Night of the Long Knives, where internal factions slaughter each other to control the grift. So, say 4 more years to shake the rug out.

So, finally, after their decade of ascendance, and at the apparent top of their game, with no other choice and facing the same stifled economy, they'll need a external enemy. Mexico is a really obvious choice for pillage. If nothing else, occupy the Gulf and claim the oil reserves. There are a million pretexts. Canada is pointless. Hell, maybe a little nostalgia and reoccupy Cuba?

But the American Right is so incompetent, and so corrupt, I doubt it goes far beyond a 12-year Reich, and ends in a ruinously expensive military disaster. No grabbing a continent for these bozos. As the world mobilizes against us, we fail to execute a military plan, loss of cohesion stagnates even their minimal incursion, morale is sub-zero. Now the criminals flee or eat each other, and at the end maybe the UN steps in to prevent some Christian faction from launching nukes to immanentize the Eschaton.

And then America will join the other smoldering ashes of failed empires: Spain, Austria, Turkey, England. Hopefully the UN occupation will force us to demilitarize. And, humbled, we will be a much better country for it. Not Norway or Germany, but say France or England. Enough to know the idiocy of global domination and for that matter untrammeled capitalism.

The New York attorney general’s office confirmed Monday that it has subpoenaed former President Donald Trump and his two eldest children, Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr., demanding their testimony in an investigation into the family’s business practices.

Attorney General Letitia James’ office said in a court filing that it recently issued subpoenas seeking testimony and documents from the Trumps as part of a yearslong civil probe involving matters including “the valuation of properties owned or controlled” by Trump and his company.

Monday’s filing, made public as James went to court in a bid to enforce the subpoena, was the first time that investigators publicly disclosed that they are also seeking information from Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr., both trusted allies of their father who’ve been executives in his family’s Trump Organization.

Last month, it was reported that James’ office had requested Trump sit for a deposition.

Lawyers for the Trumps filed court papers Monday evening seeking to block the subpoenas, calling them “an unprecedented and unconstitutional maneuver” and accusing James of attempting to obtain testimony that could then be used against the Trumps in a parallel criminal investigation being overseen by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

James “seeks to circumvent the entire grand jury process” and nullify the Trumps’ rights by forcing them to testify without the immunity that’s guaranteed under state law if they were subpoenaed to testify in front of the grand jury in the criminal probe, the Trumps’ lawyers wrote.

James, a Democrat, has spent more than two years looking at whether the Trump Organization misled banks or tax officials about the value of assets — inflating them to gain favorable loan terms or minimizing them to reap tax savings.

“Despite their names, they must play by the same rules as everyone else. These delay tactics will not stop us from following the facts or the law, which is why we will be asking the court to compel Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Ivanka Trump to testify with our office under oath,” James said in a statement after the Trumps’ move to block the subpoenas.

As for what happens if we go authoritarian...one of the clowns will drop the bomb. That is a lock. Half the country will go into full revolt the only thing that will prevent civil war will be an outside enemy. The first sign of aggression from anyone will lead to us attacking and killing them all. They will find something to turn into their Remember the Maine incident and the media will help. The sad thing is it won't be a real enemy...some fraudulent one like Grenada.
