I'd be happier if 8 of the 10 deaths were among republicans and not just in red states. It is still killing innocent people who either are severely immunocompromised and vulnerable despite vaccination or even some who did the right thing and got fully vaccinated but suffered from a breakthrough infection. That is the only reason I am not 100% rooting for the covid. Every anti-vaxxer who succumbs, every trump supporter, everyone who perpetuates myths about 1-6-21 who dies, for them I shed no tears. In many cases it is cause for celebration.

Retired US army generals warn of insurrection or civil war in 2024 if rogue military units pledge loyalty to a 'Trumpian' loser.

The generals highlighted the "disturbing number" of veterans and active-duty members of the military that took part in the January 6 attack on the Capitol by Trump supporters – more than 1 in 10 of those charged had a service record.

They outlined a possible situation in which, after the 2024 election, some service members might pledge loyalty to a "Trumpian loser" who refuses to concede defeat and tries to lead a shadow government.

"Under such a scenario, it is not outlandish to say a military breakdown could lead to civil war," they wrote.

Since the last election, the generals warned that even more turmoil and division had emerged in the armed forces.

I think a lot of people might be in for a very rude awaking after the 2024 elections if it appears that the Democratic party candidate has won. Of course we could get lucky. Biden's approval ratings are tanking so thoroughly there's always the possibility that the fickle American voter will do what he or she always does, run to the right after the right spends 4 years thwarting every reasonable measure that Democrats take to try and make things just a little better for them. We saw it in the aftermath of Obamacare and reasonable measures that were taken to pull this country out of the worst economic crisis in many generations. We'll see it again in 2022 and 2024 I'm betting. And almost ironically, that is what might stave off a violent overthrow and further descent into fascism. Instead it will simply be the slow, inexorable one that we have been seeing for all of the 21st century and longer.

Weird, isn't it?

Normally, if you knew that there were people out there actively working to kill you, you'd kinda like take measures to protect yourself from them, avoid them at all costs, maybe even take actions to oppose what they're doing to you.

Instead, these people embrace them, support them, and cheer them on in what they're doing. To them.

It's just baffling.
