Question of the Day

Back in 2016, there was a $1.56B 'pot, but 3 different people picked winning numbers. One of the winners was an engineer at the company where I work: Couple who won $328 million jackpot live ordinary lives | Daily Mail Online

Story I heard is that when he upgraded his SUV, he drove down to a dealership in Miami because he got a better deal. I didn't know him, but he's supposed to be a super nice guy - he kept coming into work doing his normal job until the day he had to legally reveal his identity.
A guy from my hometown won a (relatively) small one. I think it was something like $8 million after taxes, etc... He was the quietest, nicest guy. To know him you would have literally no idea he won a jackpot. The only expenditure he made was to buy his mother a house on the edge of town, for a ridiculously low price of like $70,000. Never talked about it. Never spent money any differently than he had before.

Got the big "OOPS! You can't access that site!" page (I'm on my work computer). Will try again on my home computer.

Huh. The bookmark should be fine, it's just some jerkwater emoji warehouse.

The image is NOT FINE AT ALL. Sorry, I never actually thought anybody accessed from work. :-(

I have removed it.

Oh you didn't have to do that! I just clicked that bookmark link to check it out and my company's firewall wouldn't let me access it. That other image you posted from it was totally fine. :)

I don't want anyone ever getting static for a pic on a work system. There are too many clever little crawlers out there on monitored systems.

I genuinely always assumed people were accessing on home networks from work.

Note: the pic wasn't from the link. The link is just a page showing the keystrokes for the emoji -- when I need it I go there and just Ctrl-C.

Today's question:

If you're in a right turn only, or left turn only lane, do you use your directional (or blinkah, as we say here in Boston)?

Today's question:

Answer: Yes.

Comment: I believe most (if not all) states mandate using your blinker (as we say here in Colorado), even in dedicated turn lanes.

Same here in MN, unless you're driving a luxury vehicle. They seem to be above that law - especially the Germans brands.

No. In fact if you're in the left turn only a left blinker indicates you are making a 180, so don't do that.

Haha, very true. Yeah, I'm not aware of a single state that doesn't mandate using your blinker, even in dedicated turn lanes. So make sure you are using them. : - )

Not if youre in Connecticut, in which case your car probably doesn't have one.

I'm ok with the red, that protects you from hunters. But she's walking. What happened to the horse?

Sorry for taking more than a few days off!

Today's question:

What's for dinner tonight? I'm having stuffed peppers. I made a bunch a while back. Tonight's meal is the last of it. Planning to make more this weekend if I can find the small peppers I like.

Sounds delicious. I made some smoked stuffed peppers a few weeks ago and they were very good.

As to your question: BLTs. Nothing fancy : - )

If you're looking at the lottery strictly upon investment terms, then I'm right there with you. However, when the pot gets big enough, people who would normally be risk averse in the manner you're describing will still toss in a few bucks. More or less, call it an entertainment expense to spend some time thinking, "What if...".

That’s exactly how I treat it. Once it hits a point where reporters describe it in fractions of a billion, I toss in $20. Fun to think..
