Initial thought on who should run: Kamala would be my choice...

Here's why:

- Can play the incumbency card
- Has been around a campaign with Dump-style mudslinging
- You know how the Dumpies will villify her.
- She will motivate minority voters
- Can speak directly to women on the control issue that the Right has brought forward

As mentioned, we are super early in this process so things can change. This November will show how much ground the current administration has lost. I also want to see how this Nov. plays out regarding the non-Dump worshipers. If a fractured Right is in the cards, I want to slow play things to keep things safer.

Also this is the opinion of someone who doesn't dive super deep into the political mechanics at work behind the scene, so it's all surface appearances. This is how I feel most of your votes that are up for grabs will view things...

There is so much misogyny and racism in vast areas of this country a woman of color would be fortunate to carry 200 EV.

The talk of replacing Biden is bait for a farther Left challenge in the primaries like Kennedy kneecapping Carter in 1980. We all saw where that got us. If Biden wants to run he should be unopposed for the nomination to maximize our chance of beating Dump, DeSantis, etc.

I agree on Nikki Haley. I wouldn't vote her to my state house ... or to my town council. She's constantly "finger in the wind".

I'd be really interested to see how the newest co-owner of the Denver Broncos would do. But she'd has Bush-era baggage.

The one that is going to be interesting is up and coming. (She's a great Twitter follow.) If she stays to conservative principles, and keeps the orange tint away, a few years from now who knows. I'd guess she's on track to primary Cornyn in 2026.
 
Anyway, the person who should run for the Democratic nomination (should he want to) is Joe Fucking Biden. End of list. This is all such silly snake-eating-its-tail nonsense. Maybe if we could focus energy on the election that's in front of us?
 
Well yeah, no one is saying he should be forced out (at least no one with an iq over 27) that would be suicide. Lets not pretend though that there isnt a chance he decides not to, the job has taken its toll on him and it is noticeable. That isn't a rip, the job ages everyone.

Spending literally any energy on this - right now as we blunder into a likely brutal election - is just so, so fucking dumb. The US desperately needs the Democrats to be the adults in the room, as the GQP is completely incapable of being that. And here we are, watching the Democrats eat their own instead.

It's not "Democrats," it's a handful of morons.

There will always be groups who don't get the memo -- the Braindead Centrists who screeched like scalded babies about Bernie were exactly the same.

Politico, a laughable Politics for Dummies site, runs a clickbait story. Don't fall for it as if it matters. It doesn't. Nobody outside of a few "look at me!" pundit types, both Left and Center, and then a bunch of trolling derps from the Right running their umpteenth Operation Chaos, pay this any mind. JFC, no one here (on the Dem side) thinks Biden isn't running and is not 100% going to vote for him. We're just having fun with a what-if, it's a fucking college hockey board in the middle of the summer.

I'd have dismissed it as the crap you say it is (and I agree), however in this very thread people are discussing it like it's a real possibility.

Being a national figure might be a net negative at this point.

The Nazis will obviously slander, lie, and character assassinate -- it's what they do -- so that's a wash. But a national figure has already had time to develop rifts among potential supporters. That's why Obama was so perfect. He was bright shiny and new and he had no record to criticize, so he was free to craft his image purely with rhetoric.

A good looking non-threatening youngish midwestern cis white male from some completely irrelevant state with no office held higher than dog catcher would be ideal. It's really a shame Pete likes the dong.
