Manchin has apparently told the White House he will support a tax on the rich (I didnt see details but he obviously is not enjoying the press he is getting) so lets go big FDR style. Tax and spend this economy back into functionality. Not the Dow Economy...the Middle Class economy!

There is no middle class. That's a ruse to make higher wage employees and lower wage employees fight each other.

The employee's economy. Not the owner's economy.

Dx,

The older you get the less likely you are to quit over a single issue. That is a young person trait. It is like voting for a third party it's cool at 20 drinking on campus but dies out by the time you hit 30. You way overestimate how much people will care after the fact.

No Democrat or Independent will stay home over that issue. Plenty of "both parties are the same" people will flip cause if fixes a major problem in their life. It will be a major net gain.

Tell that to the abortion fanatics :-)

Keep in mind, there are a lot of people in their late 30s who have just paid off loans. And they may or may not be democrats. They could be swing voters as well or fiscal hawks that think we can’t afford it.

i could be wrong though. But who knows.

Everyone I know that expresses disgust at loan forgiveness are people who don’t vote D outside of trump. Nearly all of them didn’t go to college either.

heck I’ve got grad school loans and want others to not suffer and I took years to pay off my undergrad. Don’t get the whole “I had to do this so you should suffer” mentality. Let’s also never fix healthcare because so many of us have had to pay premiums for years

I don't get it either. I think of the crushing debt burden and how the owner class has saddled millennials with debt so they couldn't buy a house then started gobbling up the houses with investment funds. It's disgusting and should be illegal or very expensive to hold a house in a fund.

I say raise the homestead exemption to like $500k and increase property taxes to like 45% of the home's value. That would put an end to that shit.

I never had student loans and I think they should be forgiven, at least to some degree. The benefits outweigh the costs.

I went to school when there were real state taxes that supported all education, keeping tuition reasonable. Forgive the loans by taxing the rich who didn't need tax breaks in the first place. Crap, they are the group of people who benefit the most by college education- via great bonds that make money AND a constant feed of skilled labor. I'm sure the book of frowns is good at exploiting their workers, just like the fruit company, and the one that just a big number spelled wrong.

Loan forgiveness doesn't disgust me, but I'm not in favor of it, at least as it's being discussed. I could be in a favor of it, but with one big caveat. As part of it, you need to fix the problem. A bunch of people age 18-38 with large student debt is not the problem. The problem is the cost of higher education.

If you do loan forgiveness, all you do is help out a select group of individuals from a small window in time. Fix the problem, then I'll support you.

It also frees up a logjam in the economy. We want those people working, paying taxes, buying homes, buying cares, starting families, etc.

State taxes should be raised to support schools and colleges like they used to be. Pretty simple. Tax cuts are the primary reason higher education is so incredibly expensive.
