To add on to what I said yesterday, consider John Walker Lindh. Most likely guilty of treason, but wasn't charged as such given the evidence available and some technicalities. He ended up taking a deal to only get 20 years by pleading guilty to a few of his charges and is now on supervised release. The standard for what constitutes "treason" under American law is very high, and rightfully so.

Manchin's best chance to be re-elected is to vote against it (cause his constituents are fucking idiots) and Sinema knows the Dems aren't voting for her again in Zona so she is thinking about life after the Senate.
