You know, if I were in charge of making vaccines at a biotech company and I wanted to sneak something like that into a jab, I think I'd be a little less on-the-nose than to dub it LUCIFERASE.

Unless it endows me with Tom Ellis' devilish handsomeness and charisma, because then I'm all in. ;-)

I think luciferase is sort of a generic enzyme that may in fact be in the vaccine, but not for the purpose these clowns claim.

Actually Moderna said it is not. I think Pfizer did as well. But yes it is just a generic enzyme that exists in like fireflies.

It is is not in any vaccine, however it is a generic term used for bioluminescence-related enzymes.

It is absolutely preposterous to me that Newsmax gets press credentials.

I may have written it wrong when I said "in it," but I thought that I read somewhere that the enzyme was perhaps used in either the testing or work on the the mRNA vaccines.

money quote:
While the enzyme is not a vaccine ingredient, researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston last July isolated luciferase from fireflies to develop more accurate COVID-19 tests and potential treatments (here).

Scientists at the University of South Florida College of Public Health conducted similar research (here).

so no, it was never used in the vaccines in any capacity, according to Reuters

Yeah, ok, I thought I had read that it had been used in either the development or testing, but it must have been the testing related to Covid.

Before Moderna said otherwise people speculated it might be in there so you probably did.

Our company issued a requirement to enter something into our vaccine tracking system by the end of October. That could be a photo of your vaccine card OR an application for a religious/medical exemption. Word is that 20% of our local workforce has not put anything into the system.

Terrifying on multiple levels.

If they are using the system our company forces us to use, I can believe it. Our app is a massive pile of dung. Horrible UI. Horrible directions. It's a miracle I was able to upload the photo of my card. After I was done, I thought, there are going to be people, even smart computer literate people, who will not be able to figure this out...

Oh, and I'm waiting to hear the backend completely fails, and for a slew of us to get layoff notices on December 9 because the company thinks we aren't vaccinated. I am totally prepared for this...

So my company's vaccine requirement has been fully laid out now. Must be fully vaccinated by Dec 8, or else. Long way from 100% right now, though- so this will be interesting.

The FDA and CDC approved the ages 5-11 Pfizer vaccine this week, which is amazing news. Moderna supposedly in a month or so. Anticipation is that ages 2-5 from Pfizer will be up either very late this year or early next.

Looking at age distribution on new cases in MA, it's pretty telling that kids cannot be vaccinated and are spreading it to their parents (who may or may not be, but mostly are here). Getting kids inoculated will make a huge difference.

The Pediatric offices I support are all ready to go and excited.

Got 3rd shot booster of Pfizer on Tuesday. Flu shot in the other arm. A little discomfort right at the injection sites the following day but otherwise no side effects.

Scheduled my booster for the 13th at a Drug Store. The one I was denied at the clinic. Had the clinic go ahead and do the Flu Shot so that was done.

I remember when they first had Meningitis vaccines.
They vaccinated the age group of kids most likely to spread it before they vaccinated the kids most at risk to die. The drop in overall cases was drastic
