MTG's exchange with Robert Reich today is just the stupidest thing I've read. She probably saw "Reich" and was p--ssed when he turned out to not be a fan of her hero.

There were a bunch at my high school. It was really rural and we were pretty limited as far as dating options. It didn’t have anything to do with religion, ethics, or anything like that.

If he was a senior and she was a freshmen I think that is okay. If he was a senior or junior and she in eighth grade or he was a freshmen in college and she was a freshmen in high school that isn’t okay. On top of that I think an 18 year old and 14 year old going to high school together is less sketchy than a 25 year old dating a 18 year high school senior.

As someone whose wife teaches high school seniors she definitely wouldn’t consider 18 year old seniors adults. They’re still a long way from that. That whole concept is pretty outdated in my opinion.

If the guy got arrested or charged with a crime for me that would be fair game as far as being reported but I don’t think that happened here. I feel horrible for all the family and it’s so sad people in those situations don’t get more support. It sounds like all the trauma his son went through led to him assaulting other people which ruins more lives.

The guy should have been arrested and charged with a crime. Just because he wasn’t doesn’t make the rest of the story okay, your high school story notwithstanding. This man is running for public office. It needed to be reported. For the record, I can’t think of any 18/14 splits at the rural high school I attended. 18/16? Absolutely.

How many grades were in your high school? For mine we had four and depending on when birthdays were you could easily have a senior with a birthday early in the year dating a freshman with a birthday in the middle of the year for an 18-14 relationship. I don't remember what people's birthdays were but know my senior year there were a handful of senior guys dating freshmen girls. I don't remember anyone having an issue with that and don't recall anyone ever getting in legal trouble. It's been awhile since I was in high school and maybe attitudes have changed.

A good reminder that Liz Cheney is still Liz Cheney

Justin Amash agrees with you.

Justin Amash, a former Republican congressman, argued that propping up GOP Rep. Liz Cheney as "some sort of hero" for breaking with her party about former President Donald Trump "is a bit misguided," criticizing her for not speaking up sooner.

"We had four years where she could have stood up and said, 'There's a problem here. What Donald Trump is doing is wrong,'" Amash told CNN's David Axelrod in an episode of "The Axe Files" podcast released Thursday.

Yikes. I'm not a fan of his, but ... "I don't know you"? Really? He's a pretty damn big deal in economics and political economics.

But I suppose that would take on faith that a sitting congress critter would have even a passing knowledge of... well... anything...

"Never heard of you" is the default lame insult for a Twitter blue check when you've got nothing of substance to say to something they've said.

Yep. I saw that. My sympathy for her completely disappeared. She's just as nuts as the rest of them.

You had sympathy for her?

I'm not proud of her, or think she's some sort of hero for what she's doing. I am glad that at least some on the right aren't complete Trump-ass-kissing toadies, but that's not a high bar to have to clear. That she's standing up for democracy is the least little bit you could expect any American to do. That it places her so far and above most of the rest of the Republican pack says more about them than it does her.

She's still an evil, despicable person. Her father's daughter.

It's also the brag of the unwashed swine like MTG even if they know exactly who the person is.

There is pride in the void where knowledge should sit.

I saw him speak at an event a few years ago and he was really impressive. There was a Q&A at the end with some interesting questions and responses.
