Exactly. Ukraine supplies 9% of the world's wheat exports, 39% of the world's exports of seed oils, 13% of corn. These are all in same class as the US. They feed much of India, China, and Northern Africa. The dutch get 50% of their corn and 67% of their seed oils from Ukraine. I feel like Europe and the US will be very eager to rebuild that country. Not just as a strategic alliance against Russia, but also to crowd out China and to stabilize the world's food market.

If China weren't such a shit show right now, I could see China trying to fund the rebuild and trying to work a better relationship with Ukraine. Europe and the US are the only ones who make sense right now to rebuild it.

Yes. And "Europe" in this case means Germany. The Italians are having a Moment, the French are poised to as well, and the Brits fucked off to nativist fantasyland.

edit- that being said- if Iran is really selling a lot of their arms to russia, then they really can't wage another war. So I really think this is a BS distraction to stop the protests. good luck with that.

Someone tried to assassinate Imran at rally/parade today and he was shot in the lower leg. He’s in hospital now but not in any serious danger. He’s one of the only politicians in today’s world you can label as heroic. Folks should look up the story of him raising money to build a cancer hospital if they are not familiar with it.
 
Dude, no. What the hell are you talking about?

They aren't going to rely on airbus to supply one of the most important strategic aircraft in the fleet.

Ha, they fly over my house all the time so I’m pretty familiar with them. One that is based near me actually landed with its boom down a couple months ago. Do you work for Boeing or something? The planes objectively suck and have been a massive waste of money.

Two things- why do they suck? They do deliver fuel to the air force in flight, right? Which is what they are supposed to do. I'm assuming that when you say they waste money- that's about maintenance?? If that money to keep them working is all going to USAF personnel- that's 100% fine- it's good for the US economy.

Second, why in the world would you want to send the taxes you paid to the EU??? That makes less than no sense to me. Who cares if Boeing would cost more money- at least it all stays in the US, especially to the workers who immediately put those taxes right back into the economy- which adds consumers to the US economy.

Have you never learned that? Or do you subscribe to the "I'm a business person, and know how to use your taxes" BS? Government isn't a profit center- besides trying to build things that we, as a society, all need, it's also a simple way to generate consumers of stuff.

From the people I know who fly them they have two main issues: the first one is that the boom operator sits next to the pilot and controls the boom by looking at a screen instead of being in the back and looking directly at the boom. The second major issue is the receiver aircraft has to ‘hit’ the boom much harder to connect. I guarantee you the issue in the article I posted had to do with the F-15 pilot overcompensating which they wouldn’t have to do with a KC-135 or KC-10.

Obviously buying refuelers from Airbus is a major disappointment and a poor reflection on our country but it’s better than the alternative of potentially not having enough capacity in a time of great need.
