US Foreign Policy 3.0: We're The Mets of International Diplomacy

The West will rebuild Ukraine to (1) entice them to join the alliance against Russia, (2) exploit Western taxpayers by skimming the profits from reconstruction and cycling them back to the personal accounts of Western owners (see Iraq War), and (3) ensure Ukraine does not commit to an economic model which, if successful, would serve labor and threaten global capitalist feudalism (see Marshall Plan, Four Asian Tigers).

All of these projects entail the personal sacrifice of the Western middle class and the victimized nation's poor to enrich the Western plutes and the victimized nation's Quislings. This is how the American imperialist model works. It is, to be fair, a lot less mean than the Belgian, German, and Spanish ones, and morally equivalent to the British, Dutch, and French ones.

Exactly. Ukraine supplies 9% of the world's wheat exports, 39% of the world's exports of seed oils, 13% of corn. These are all in same class as the US. They feed much of India, China, and Northern Africa. The dutch get 50% of their corn and 67% of their seed oils from Ukraine. I feel like Europe and the US will be very eager to rebuild that country. Not just as a strategic alliance against Russia, but also to crowd out China and to stabilize the world's food market.

If China weren't such a shit show right now, I could see China trying to fund the rebuild and trying to work a better relationship with Ukraine. Europe and the US are the only ones who make sense right now to rebuild it.

Yes. And "Europe" in this case means Germany. The Italians are having a Moment, the French are poised to as well, and the Brits fucked off to nativist fantasyland.

Saudis could be looking to embroil us even more in their proxy war. The Neocons over at ISW have been thumping the tub hard lately. PNAC's dreams die hard.

That would force the vlad humpers to change sides. Iran is backing their boy, and if we go to war with them... yea.

edit- that being said- if Iran is really selling a lot of their arms to russia, then they really can't wage another war. So I really think this is a BS distraction to stop the protests. good luck with that.

Vive la resistance!

Effective Ukrainian partisan attacks are forcing the Kremlin to divert resources away from the frontline operations to help secure rear areas, degrading Russia’s ability to defend against ongoing Ukrainian counteroffensives, let alone conduct their own offensive operations. Poor Russian operational security has enabled Ukrainian partisan attacks. Russia’s increasing manpower shortages are likely degrading Russian forces’ ability to effectively secure Russian rear areas against partisan attacks and simultaneously defend against Ukrainian counteroffensives. The Kremlin still has not effectively countered Ukraine’s organized partisan movement and is unlikely to have the capabilities to do so.

Fun fact: the French Right collaborated with the Nazi regime to exterminate the French resistance:

Reflecting the growth of the Resistance, on 30 January 1943, the Milice was created to hunt down the resistants, although initially that was only one of the Milice's tasks; it was first presented as an organisation to crack down on the black market.[SUP][109][/SUP] The Milice, commanded by Joseph Darnand, was a mixture of fascists, gangsters, and adventurers with a "sprinkling of the respectable bourgeoisie and even the disaffected aristocracy" committed to fight to the death against the "Jews, Communists, Freemasons and Gaullists"; the oath of those who joined required to them to commit to work for the destruction in France of the "Jewish leprosy", the Gaullists and the Communists.[SUP][109][/SUP] The Milice had 29,000 members, of whom 1,000 belonged to the elite Francs-Gardes and wore a uniform of khaki shirts, black berets, black ties, blue trousers and blue jackets. Their symbol was the white gamma, the zodiacal sign of the Ram, symbolising renewal and power.[SUP][110][/SUP]

Everywhere, always, the Right is the same. End the Right. Save the world.

Someone tried to assassinate Imran at rally/parade today and he was shot in the lower leg. He’s in hospital now but not in any serious danger. He’s one of the only politicians in today’s world you can label as heroic. Folks should look up the story of him raising money to build a cancer hospital if they are not familiar with it.

Dude, no. What the hell are you talking about?

They aren't going to rely on airbus to supply one of the most important strategic aircraft in the fleet.

Hint, among those with transponders on, there are three over NY right now.

Ha, they fly over my house all the time so I’m pretty familiar with them. One that is based near me actually landed with its boom down a couple months ago. Do you work for Boeing or something? The planes objectively suck and have been a massive waste of money.

Wait, did you really just invoke Sarah palin?

Two things- why do they suck? They do deliver fuel to the air force in flight, right? Which is what they are supposed to do. I'm assuming that when you say they waste money- that's about maintenance?? If that money to keep them working is all going to USAF personnel- that's 100% fine- it's good for the US economy.

Second, why in the world would you want to send the taxes you paid to the EU??? That makes less than no sense to me. Who cares if Boeing would cost more money- at least it all stays in the US, especially to the workers who immediately put those taxes right back into the economy- which adds consumers to the US economy.

Have you never learned that? Or do you subscribe to the "I'm a business person, and know how to use your taxes" BS? Government isn't a profit center- besides trying to build things that we, as a society, all need, it's also a simple way to generate consumers of stuff.

From the people I know who fly them they have two main issues: the first one is that the boom operator sits next to the pilot and controls the boom by looking at a screen instead of being in the back and looking directly at the boom. The second major issue is the receiver aircraft has to ‘hit’ the boom much harder to connect. I guarantee you the issue in the article I posted had to do with the F-15 pilot overcompensating which they wouldn’t have to do with a KC-135 or KC-10.

Obviously buying refuelers from Airbus is a major disappointment and a poor reflection on our country but it’s better than the alternative of potentially not having enough capacity in a time of great need.
