Why is the Biden quip even an issue? Absolutely ridiculous the level the media has stooped to after ignoring 4 years of the ex-orange idiot in chiefs psychotic ramblings.
FFS, of course we want Putin gone.
Biden could have said: “My fellow Americans, I am pleased to tell you today that I’ve signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.”

Handy
Biden words threw diplomacy out the window. I will admit that its possible diplomacy was already gone but their is no doubt now.

Everything I have seen on Twitter from those I follow who are scholars or study Russian/Ukranian news/history.... all say Biden's remarks aren't even small font, back page news. Russia they say, back to the Cold War days, has beaten into their citizens heads how "the evil West, those no good Americans, hate Russia and want to see us gone." It's such an old wives tale that Biden's speech wasn't even *hinted* at on State Media. It's so accepted as gospel that even when it's said out loud it's greeted with a shrug and "we knew that already."

Ukranians, and other old Soviet Bloc nations, they already agree that Putin needs to check the strength of a window from a tall building. So again, they didn't even blink at Biden's remarks either.

You know who *IS* hand wringing and pearl clutching over the words said? American media. Conservatives. Democrats who think this is still a negotiation.

There never was diplomacy. Putin agreed to a cease fire talk while SHELLING THE PISS OUT OF UKRAINIAN CITIES. During the goddammed cease fire meeting.

Putin says he'll only accept total capitulation of Ukraine. Ukraine basically becomes Bulgaria. A "free" nation that bends the knee to Putin's every whim with a puppet president. There is no diplomacy.

After being pumped full of the bullsh-t of television and other media for almost 60 years, it is almost beyond comprehension to see someone be sincere, without pretense, and with no garbage partisan or commercial agenda.

Maybe once this is over the century-long brainwashing loathsomeness and manipulation of mass media will begin to loosen, as well.

This is a person, speaking to us. The difference between it and well-produced media is so stark that it is painful. May everyone in the entertainment industry of news and politics DIAF.

Not only that. They and exiled Russian opposition leaders applauded it.

None of the Right's reaction to Biden is sincere. It is their same garbage, their same Concern. Ignore them. They no longer have the right to be listened to. Their treason has cost them their moral citizenship.

And?

Do you think Putin is going to end this diplomatically? If so...would you like to buy a bridge I have in Minneapolis? Perhaps some beachfront property I own in Iowa?

If diplomacy could end this any time soon it already would have. The Ukraine has already agreed to some of the terms. (mainly NATO) This isn't about just getting a minor victory for The Flaccid One he is trying to ensure his legacy.

If this was just week 1 or 2 of the invasion I would be with you. (I got called Neville Chamberlain by rufus for it) We are a month in and they aren't even budging, in fact they are ratcheting up the attacks. (and losses!) Diplomacy starts when Putin is ready to back down and all evidence says he is nowhere near that.

Just impressive work by the biden admin

Recent polling shows 55% of Americans want everything Biden has done but also don't think he is handling it correctly. In a similar poll I found that people who ask questions in polling and those who answer poll questions are fucking azzholes ;^)

Jesus Christ ALL OF THIS!

And lets not forget, the shelling he did during the ceasefire was I believe the very area that was designated a safe zone for evacuees. The man is not trying to negotiate he wants Ukraine and the more they fight the more he wants them. He is a rapist, and Ukraine is the half drunk freshmen at the kegger.

You got called Neville Chamberlain before Russia invaded, for whining about how there was nothing we could do to stop Putin, so what was the point?

From there you went to being all for nuclear war, and now you're pushing regime change. A little consistency would be nice.

Russia's "tank reserves."

Looks like they might need a little TLC...

Also saw last week their only tank production facility had to cease operations because they didn't have parts to build with.

If putin gets what he deserves out of this the US still needs to deal with whoever takes over so keeping diplomacy alive might be smart.

I don't see anyone saying that you are wrong in what has happened, and what vladdy has done. The question is how to get rid of him without starting a nuclear exchange *anywhere*- let alone a full blown WWIII exchange that ends the world. Do you trust the military leaders to do the right thing and NOT start a nuclear battle? Given that they are the ones directing the shooting, I can't really trust them. It's the ground troops that are the ones running the slow down, not the leaders.

So if you have a plan to stop this without further escalation, what would that be? Right now, bleeding the russian effort dry seems to be the most effective way of doing that. Even if vlad comes out at the top, he will be pretty scaled back.

I'm not a fan of little green men in general, but I trust military leaders as a class way more than politicians when it comes to committing their troops and escalating conflict, because they know the consequences.

There are exceptions (Patton, Haig, Lee, Nogi, Hunter-Weston) but for the most part generals are not hotheads or reckless, whereas the Pols back home in their snug mansions and snugger mistresses are generous with the lives they will spend for their personal glory.

As a whole, sure. But it just takes one in the right spot to end the world on a simple command.
