I was sick a few yrs ago and my sense of smell has never been the same. Some other types of resp viruses do that. It is a bummer. It affects the sense of taste too.

Still on hurry up and wait here. the mr is in quarantine. He wasn't near the person so unless someone else tests + then he is ok. Is it bad that this is the first time in months I have slept well? He can't go get into any bad situations from his bunker office in the basement.

You realize the guy who made the tweet is some Brit living in London, right?

"Conservatives" the world over mouth the same derp in the same charmless manner.

You must admit, you haven't been sending us your best these last 50 years.

Enter: Reagan / Thatcher

Exit: mind / conscience

Florida removed most Covid restrictions on 9/25 & theme parks, bars & restaurants & sports w/fans have been open Meanwhile, California has a statewide curfew & 99.1% of the state is in the most restrictive tier. And yet hospitalizations in CA have passed FL. Hmmm!

Team Common Sense, COVID is seasonal. Masks and lockdowns make no difference. 7 Midwestern states all move in perfect unison.

#AdultChildren - Seasonality is a lie. All states spike simultaneously from Spontaneous Community Abandonment of Mitigation Measures (SCAMM - h/t) then all states peak and decline when their citizens experience sudden Satisfaction with Health Interventions and The Science™ (SHITS)

And then see them a few weeks letter asking for thoughts and prayers. I think anyone who posts this crap publicly should be denied medical help. If they choose to ignore doctors doctors should ignore them. Triage means you have to choose who needs the help more and these clowns are showing they dont.

Sorry but I am done with this BS "Freedumb" crap. If you don't want to live by the rules of a society you get none of the benefits of said society.

Designate one of the sh*thole states as free soil for the bootstrappin' loonitarians who don't want gubmint services or nanny stating, and they can all move there. I vote for Oklahoma.

  • Researchers have developed a new flu drug technology that can be applied to other viral infections, including the novel coronavirus, HIV, and hepatitis.
  • Scientists from Purdue University combined neuraminidase inhibitor zanamivir with dinitrophenyl (DNP) to create a molecule that can target only the virus and the cells it infects, leaving healthy cells unharmed.
  • The researchers found that the drug had a surprisingly potent effect on mice infected with 100 times the lethal dose of a flu virus.

Interesting take on hospitalizations

He thinks hospitalizations are going down because hospitals are getting pickier on how bad of shape you need to be in to get admitted. Makes sense. Can’t give people the boot without spending an assload of capital trying to improve your PR for pulling the plug on grandma.

I think that's absolutely at play here. Hospitals are in dire financial straits right now and a second shutdown of elective procedures would be the death blow for many (not to mention the negative impacts on population health). So you're going to see a lot of hospitals with much higher bars for admissions. It's just a fact of life.

I’ve heard this more than once the last few months. With that being said not sure how meaningful the daily positives are. It’s clear during this whole pandemic we’ve been missing a lot. In a lot of ways it would be interesting if you had a group of say 10k random people and tested them every day to see how many are infected.

As I’ve said before my wife is a public school teacher in Mass and they’re operating schools as normal this week even after the holiday. Doesn’t seem like it will end well but we will see.

The test doesn’t tell you if you are infected. Amazing we are 9 months into this charade and people that think they are inform don’t know that.

Testing healthy people does nothing productive.

Of course it won't. If there ever was a time for people to realize how underpaid teachers are this would be it, but I'm guessing nothing will change. Our district is on e-learning for the rest of the semester due to lack of subs to help keep schools open while teachers have to quarantine. They sent an email to all parents looking for subs for the 2nd semester, anyone with a bachelors degree that can pass a background check they'll take. They're offering $130/day.... I'd rather go work the McD's drive-thru for the same pay.

A guy on my Next Door last week complained that the local school district was prioritizing staff needs above needs of parents and kids

If there isn't a problem as the deniers appear to be saying then why are Hospitals reacting the way they are? I don't remember hospitals acting like during normal flu seasons. Cancelling elective surgeries is NOT PROFITABLE. So, why are they doing it?

I really do not get this endless fight against testing and masks. It's confusing to me.

$130 a day??? FUCK THAT. That’s minimum wage in some states.

You'll never convince the half of the country that votes Republican that we need to pay people more. It will never happen.

In my wife’s district they haven’t had subs all year and have given up trying to find them. If kids have a class with the teacher out they send them to the auditorium, cafeteria, or another common space. This is a district with a lot of resources too.
