I'm a believer that a good, solid bass riff makes a song memorable.

Some classic bass riffs in my mind:

Another One Bites the Dust, Queen
Maneater, Hall and Oates
Seven Nation Army, White Stripes

Others?

Pretty much everything James Jamerson ever did with the Funk Brothers.

Edit: Specifically Bernadette and I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch), both by the Four Tops.

The entire Queen album that "Another one bites....." is on is fantastic for bass riffs. Always liked "Dragon Attack" the best on that album.

Having a hard time thinking of anything to concrete. KISS's Destroyer album in particular God of Thunder and Detroit Rock City come to mind.
