Worcester watering holes?

Heard the BC crowd will be at The Irish Times, any other good places nearby for a couple of pints and a bite to eat? I see there is also a "99' Rest. close as well. Thanks

Re: Worcester watering holes?

The Banner is a couple blocks away on Green St. I wasn't 21 the summer I worked in Worcester, so I'm not sure what the beer selection's like, but the wings and subs are awesome.

Re: Worcester watering holes?

Brew City on Shrewsbury is a good place to eat and drink pregame. I've done that before events at the DCU. There are a lot of other restaurants right in that vicinity too. Armsby Abbey is good I've heard if your a foodie and/or very into craft beer, but it isn't really a sports bar nor is it fast. I've also heard that Blackstone Tap is a decent place.

This year, I'll likely be at Irish Times surrounded my BC brethren.

Not to be crude, but where can a guy who's out of the house for the weekend find lots of cocaine, gambling and strip-joints?

If that's a serious question,

1) Can't tell you.
2) Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos are about an hour to the south.
3) I've been told that Hurricane Betty's is in Worcester the best but also that it's nothing fancy. Providence is about 45 minutes to the southeast and blows (pun intended) Worcester or anything in Massachusetts out of the water.

Not to be crude, myself.

Re: Worcester watering holes?

FYI: I just called Irish Times and they said they're opening at 11AM on Saturday. I would have like even earlier, but it will still provide plenty of time before the 1:30 start to the BC/UAF game.

Re: Worcester watering holes?

Well played!

And also probably true. Worcester is a hellhole (sorry, Worcester residents). You won't find an uglier city with a college as nice as Holy Cross. It's quite a contrast.

Hahaha well as a resident of said hellhole, I'm allowed to make that comment. And while HC is in a rather dreary section of town, it's certainly no Fordham/Bronx situation.

That being said, the Irish Times is definitely the best bet downtown. And though I haven't been I've also heard great things about Brew City on Shrewsbury Street, they have a fairly large selection on tap. Aside from that, there's a Jillian's on Grove Street (about 3 minute drive from DCU) which could put any game on, although I'm still not entirely sure how ESPN360 works.

EDIT: in other words, what bignick said.

Re: Worcester watering holes?

Anyone who has attended NCAA hockey regionals in the past at DCU know if they let you out between games on Saturday. This was not the case last year in Bridgeport and I had to use some serious juice to talk my way out of and back into that arena. If they are selling separate tickets for each game I would think we would be allowed to take a beer break between contests, Thanks.

It's one ticket. They do not, as far as I Know (attended BC Minny there in 2008). There is some sort of bar in the concourse that showd games, but I don't believe they served beers.

Yeah, I just checked my tickets and it is one ticket for each day.
