Women's Hockey Stats Data Sharing

TitleIXHockey

Golden Knight
Since a lot of data is spread far and wide and not packaged for consumption I figured I would share what I have (if anyone wants a copy) and see if anyone else has done similar work. I can dump these on Onedrive for download or whatever.

This is all in Excel btw but I can export as a .csv or whatever

Individual spreadsheets
  • Teams all time records (99-00 to end of this season aka NCAA)
    • Includes games against NEWHA as a D-1 conference, not before
    • Includes OTW/L (20-21 only)
    • Includes SOW/L (all)
    • Includes defunct teams: Findlay, Wayne State, Niagara, North Dakota
  • All NCAA past brackets
    • Performance by seed, e.g. champion, runner up, etc
    • Seed matchups for first round, e.g. 1 vs 8, 1 vs 7 etc.
  • All conference past brackets (4 sheets)
  • Win/Loss charts for all teams, all conferences except for NEWHA (4 sheets)
  • All official team color codes (Primary/secondary, RGB and Hex)
    • Most of these were taken from official media guides, but some were from color decoding logos so might be slightly off
  • Conference regular season champs by season
  • Order of finishes for all seasons (CHA, WHEA, ECAC only)
  • Total Attendance by season 05-06 to 19-20
  • Clarkson all time scoring leaders and goaltending leaders (all players)
  • SLU all time scoring leaders
  • Derbies and rivalries (Mayors' cups, Border War (UNH - Maine), Whitney Ave., BC-BU, I-90 (SU-RIT)
  • Midseason cups (I made these up to mimic soccer supporters trophies)
    • North Star Cup (conf games between Min, UMD, MSU, BMJ, SCSU)
    • Empire State Cup (ECAC NY schools - Colgate, Clarkson, SLU, Cornell, Union, RPI)
    • Patriots Cup (MA WHEA schools - BC, BU, NU, Merrimack, Holy Cross)
    • Ivy League (hey this one is real)
    • Keystone Cup (PA - PSU, RMU, Mercyhurst)
    • New England Cup (Non MA WHEA schools - UConn, Prov, UVM, Maine, UNH)
    • Also tournaments - Beanpot, Minnesota Cup, Nutmeg Classic, Windjammer Classic, Country Classic, Battle at the Burgh, Friendship Summit (if it becomes a thing)
  • All conferences standings 1999-2003 (CHS didn't compile the box scores into standings data so they were all blank)
And my "Women's Hockey Shots [year]" sheets for every year I've been covering (14-15 to present)
  • This includes
  • All team records sans pre-D1 NEWHA (Sacred Heart)
  • Goals For & against
  • Goal differential
  • Goal differential per game
  • Shots for
  • Shots against
  • Shots for per game
  • Shots against per game
  • Shooting percentage
  • Save percentage (both minus ENG)
  • Percentage of shots taken (shots for / total shots)
  • Opponents shots percentage allowed
  • Relative shots percentage (shots pct taken minus opponents average allowed)
  • The above 3 vs teams that take the majority of shots
More recent additions (not all years)
  • Extra attacker goals for and against (end of game goalie pulled only)
  • SHG for and against
  • Modified PK/PP based on the above

The all NCAA brackets sheet with 09-10 selected. Again I kinda winged it for the unseeded teams in previous years.

All very cool Title IX. Question for you, what is the easiest way to get data about what state/ province players are from? Scrapers are beyond me. I only know to drill down On team rosters on team websites / collegehockeystats / elite prospects, but that is quite manual. Like if I wanted to know all active NCAA Div I players from Ohio? I remembered Lauren Bernard is another one that plays for a (recently) top ten team...

Also feels rare to see NCAA players from British Columbia these days, but I don’t know if I’m imagining it.

Is there an easy way to look this up that I am missing?

Yeah, you have the way I do it. All my data is collected manually. (Not sure what that says about me lol.) This is the main reason I put together all these sheets. The data is there but if you want to look for something like that (or look at all the NCAA brackets one after another) no one has packaged it that way.
