Who won coach of the Year

Re: Who won coach of the Year

I think it is supposed to be announced after the F4 and awarded at the convention.. though could be wrong on that.

I'm biased towards a certain ECAC coach, but think Sandelin is richly deserving given this past weekend.

Re: Who won coach of the Year

Last year it was announced on April 14 (week after FF) and, yes, awarded at the convention (May 1 last year).

Re: Who won coach of the Year

Jeff Blashill of WMU got kinda ripped off.. they went 19-13-10 from 8-20-8 and had a pretty strong showing in the CCHA tournament and had a good showing against Denver. However, congratulations to Coach Leaman on a great year and he definitely deserved the award as well.

Re: Who won coach of the Year

National coach of the year to be announced in St Paul---anyone know the winner Div 1?
your mom?
I'd give it to Western michigan's coach
other notables
Dean Blais
George Gwozdecky (best "rebuilding year" in a while although ran into the sioux buzzsaw to stop them from getting trophies)
also Merrimack's coach (where did they come from "who are these guys")
Also Union's coach

Re: Who won coach of the Year

Since Blashill and Dennehy were inexplicably not their conferences choices and thus ineligible, Leaman and Sandelin finishing 1-2 is as it should be.

Given that there's only ~60 teams, it's kind of weird that the award has such restrictive qualifications.

Can you imagine the Hobey finalists automatically being the players of the year in each league + the rosters of the Frozen Four teams?

Re: Who won coach of the Year

Leaman? Seriously? Congratulations, you took a program that never won anything and... still have never won anything.

By your logic, then, we should probably go back and retroactively award the Penrose to the coach whose team won the national championship that year. Never mind Leaman has made Union hockey relevant.
