Re: Who got jobbed the worst

St. Norbert's easily got the worst of this deal. While they will probably ground up Adrian into horsemeat, there is always the risk of running into a hot goalie, an untimely penalty, an injury to a key player, etc. But that's the system and (by now) the west has learned to deal with it.

Re: Who got jobbed the worst

St. Norbert got the short end of the stick. I feel for Adrian as well. Lost in all this is for their play-in game they have to play what may be the best team in the country (best of the West anyway). We all knew they were going to be in a play-in, but having to go to St. Norbert first is a bad draw. They may win, but I am sure they would have rather played St. Thomas, GAC, or Elmira right out of the gate.

Re: Who got jobbed the worst

I do think St. Norbert should have gotten the bye, but I did pick M'Ville for the reason of winning their conference tourney and getting robbed. I wish I had 2 choices.

Re: Who got jobbed the worst

I think the Committee did the best they could with the 11 teams they picked (and I think they picked the right ones), but it would have been nice if they could have worked it so that St. Norbert got a bye. I think they could have shipped Adrian to Elmira, had SNC play the winner of GAC/St. Thomas. Adrian wins, they make one flight before the final four. Elmira wins, and the whole first round/QF round goes without any flights. Unless I've missed something here, it's the same scenario they are playing with now. If Adrian wins over St. Norbert, they'll have to be flown to their next game. If they lose, no flights.

Did I get it right?

Yeah, which is what is puzzling about the whole thing. Send Adrian to Elmira, and you get byes for the top 3 teams in bracket. According to the NCAA, the distance is 499, which is maybe too much when you consider the off campus site

Re: Who got jobbed the worst

It's now been posted elsewhere that the Committee was looking to send Adrian to Elmira and it was nixed at the NCAA level. I'd be curious to know what the logic was there...

2 flights instead of 3.

The way it is, you had a max of 2:
1. Adrian to QF
2. West to LP

Sending Adrian East would have created a max of 3:
1. Adrian to QF
2. Adrian to LP
3. SNC/GAC/STT to LP

Re: Who got jobbed the worst

I pick Geneseo..if it wasnt for the NCAA people they would have made the SUNYAC playoffs, beat Oswego then Plattsburgh for the SUNYAC title, and then made a run into the NCAA Finals...they got hosed...

and isnt it obvious...Patrick got jobbed....

Re: Who got jobbed the worst

The tournament was brokered in the back room.. The AQ's are a fact so who has to play in and what is the balance ie West to East # teams in the mix was the question.?
The West could not stand a 8-3 seeding wanted at least an 7-4 balance
so the committee? so called had to throw Manhattanville under the bus in pool B and relagate them to pool C which they lose and the trade offHorsetrade) was
fewer play-in games for the East for the national tournament. The system is broken,, we need a better way to determine the right outcomes and have ranking less significant in the math.

Re: Who got jobbed the worst

In Thinking the current state of affairs in the ECAC I think Manhattanville should consider going to Div I. Think about the alignment with the exception of Mercyhurst...RIT, Canisius ,Army, Sacred Heart, Holy Cross, Bentley, Connecticut, and AIC. What a great regional rivalry! I believe MVLLE
could compete in this alignment and be better off than the current
weak-kneed ECAC. Just a thought
