What's Going On Here? (USCHO)

Before the upgrade, the record for visits at one time was around 1700. Now we're in the 7000s and setting new records every few minutes. Is there some problem with the counter, or is there something directing lots and lots of people to USCHO?

It's been discussed that the board is testing the limits to see why the board is so slow on Fridays and Saturdays. Or something like that.

Booo! I was waiting for you to post a picture of Gwoz and say Hey Hey Hey! What is going on here?

How about this?

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CNb6lV3eqtU?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CNb6lV3eqtU?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

That'll do pig, that'll do.

Actually it was 1312.

It's been discussed that the board is testing the limits to see why the board is so slow on Fridays and Saturdays. Or something like that.
That's what I originally thought. It now seems more likely that something is wrong with the software, and it isn't noticing when people are not looking at the boards. There is no way that so many members, who are listed, are around this time of night.

Yay for "upgrades!" ;)

I thought it was a test, too, given the number of guests. Either that, or some bots have made their way into the system.

If it was only visitors I would believe it was bots, but there are so many members listed that it seems more likely that it isn't taking in to account when people leave.

possibly if you say 'remember me' it not only remembers but keeps you 'logged in'. Either way, it is nice to be remembered.

Re: What's Going On Here? (USCHO)

Looks like it's fixed.

Now how about that search? :) If you can't search in old threads, what purpose is there to keeping so many around?

However it still says
Most users ever online was 11,041, Today at 12:20 PM.
when it should say
Most users ever online was 1,312, 03-10-2007 at 09:32 PM.
(Those are eastern time.)

There won't be any use for me to start a new version of http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?t=88231 in 2011. :)

Search is truly weird now. If I search for all posts by a given user, I only get those since the "upgrade," however if I search for all of the threads that the poster started, I also get the older ones. Hard to understand.

Same here. Makes it seem like a programming issue - the database of older threads is clearly still there, they just need to fix the search.

They still had search problems before the upgrade that they couldn't fix, and I thought someone had said it was volume-related then. There is no way USCHO needs to save all the threads it has available right now. If nobody posts in a thread in a year, delete it. People will live. I'm assuming the new search problems are upgrade-related, but maybe it's still volume-related.
