As one of the unfortunate souls who no longer lives in a D-I hockey market, I need satellite to get any college hockey on TV. I've had better luck with Dish Network with the Sports Package than with DirecTV. Price, averaged out over the 24-month contract, came out about the same for either.

I love Dish Network for so many things but some things (like ESPNU not in HD, no access to FCS games like UND) are very annoying despite preferring them for many things including the hopper, that box is awesome.

HD antenna. $30 from Worst Buy. Pretty much just so I can watch football on Fox/CBS. For big games I might go to Peanut Farm or BWW and enjoy a beer and a burger while I watch. I still come out ahead of cable.

The shows I do watch (Top Gear, QI, Mythbusters, etc.) I can usually find on Youtube, Hulu, or iTunes.

I refuse to shell out an extra hundred a month for Honey Boo Boo.

My apartment complex is contracted into cable, and we added a sports package and HD. Come out to about $37 a month. Not bad.

Re: What service do you have for Television?

We have DirecTV, and I'm really happy with the service, aside from the price. We have 3 boxes, one of which is a DVR, high def, and the Sports Pak, and my bill is about $120 per month. I sure wish we could order a la carte, cuz I'd trim that MF down to about 10 channels.

Edit: We also have an antenna for local HDVT, which is now 15 channels.
