Wisconsin lost practically their entire defense. They will need to rebuild to get back in the top of the WCHA.

BSU is going to get ground down by the WCHA grind, they will not end up being higher than 8 or 9th. Playing one good team every other month is a thing of the past.

and, on paper, UND is already the champions.

Wisconsin lost a lot of talent on defense but I think most Badger fans are more comfotable with the D right now than where our scoring will come from.

I agree. Plus, UW returns a goaltending dou that got them all the way to the big game last year. Last year there was some goalie coaching issues, (or lack of one) early on. This year I expect the goaltending to be stronger out of the gate. The big ? to me is how long will it take all the new players to gel as 5 man defensive units. I think 5-6 is a reasonable prediction for UW.

I love the rodents slotted for the 7-9 spot so far. They can't be that bad, can they? :D

You people have CC way overrated. As long as Owens is their coach they'll never finish higher than fifth.

In fact I'll go one better. I guarantee that the University of Minnesota will finish ahead of CC this year. I base this on the *** kicking they gave the Kitties at the end of last season at Mariucci.

DU finished last regular season going 9-1-0 in their last 10 WCHA games. Best recruiting class in school history coming in.

8th or 9th is possible. However, you can't keep comparing their schedule next year to the past season. It's a new conference. A much better conference hence why we have much better recruits than past seasons.

Every team in the WCHA feels the grind of week-to-week play with tough teams, who's to say their the only ones that can't handle it next season?

I've been a Sioux fan my entire life, IMO they are one of the best experienced teams in the WCHA, and even they struggle in the grind from season-to-season.

BSU has shown already that they can beat the top tier teams in the WCHA. (Sweeping UMD while #1 in WCHA standings). I don't care if they played Robert Morris or Alabama Huntsville the weekend before. They still played, and they still won those games. It wasn't a fluke, they outworked them in every aspect of those games.

Bemidji is going to come out flying to start the season and the new barn will help, but the schedule is just brutal. They will face the WCHA's projected top four teams in the first five weekends of the season. If they go 3-7-0 or better, it would be a major accomplishment.

I could see them starting off 1-9-0 and then injuries and and bruises started taking their toll.

That being said, 8th place or better would be a huge step in the right direction. So we'll just have to see how they compete.

I don't do predictions, but agree with this comment. Even if you take out the DU series (on the road, BTW), you've got the consesus top three to start the year:

We will certainly find out quickly how BSU adjusts to the "grind" of the WCHA...
