Veteran writer Neil Koepke out of work

John J. MacInnes

Coach Emeritus
Due to company wide cuts by Gannett, Neil Koepke is no longer working for the Lansing State Journal.

A sad day for all of us who have enjoyed the work of this legend of college hockey.

I doubt there is a more knowledgeable journalist on the subject of college hockey in lower Michigan than he. Nice guy too. Unfortunately in today's climate these are the first guys to go.

It's sad to see.

Re: Veteran writer Neil Koepke out of work

Sorry to see Koepke let go. His paper had been de-emphasizing its cover of MSU over the years, as the program began to decline and fan interest waned. Koepke is a casuality of the poor mid-Michigan economy and the dwindling interest in MSU hockey. Koepke could write quite a book on college hockey. He has a deep reservoir of stories from covering the sport for decades. Best of luck to him.
