USCHO Changing http to https

Ralph Baer

Let's Go 'Tute!
USCHO appears to have changed all http links in messages to https. This causes problems when the site being linked to doesn't support the latter.

Just another improvement to the software.

Re: USCHO Changing http to https

I kind of thought they were late to the party on making that change. Most sites I use are https these days.

Re: USCHO Changing http to https

I believe Google and search engines in general are driving this change. They didn't have a choice.

The problem is that some other sites only accept the http version. They are the ones who have to change.

Re: USCHO Changing http to https

Why would you be going to other sites?

If that was serious, I have been posting links to the box scores for RPI recruits for many years. Some leagues (e.g., the USHL) accept https or http. Some (e.g., the NAHL) only accept http. So when USCHO changes http to https, the latter are broken. I assume that everyone will eventually changes things, and since most of the junior leagues now use the same software, it shouldn't be a problem. Also collegehockeystats only accepts http.

Re: USCHO Changing http to https

Oftentimes, just edit the link and take out the "s" and it will work.

Yes, that certainly is the case, but the problem is that Board changed every link which has ever been posted in old posts.

I did send a message asking about the problem.
